    Help Please/Cannot Start Battlefield 2

Ok, here's the gist of what has happened:

Since 1.3 has been such a problematic patch, I wanted to revert to 1.22. So, I uninstalled Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2: Special Forces. I re-installed Battlefield 2, no problem. Tried to re-install Special Forces and got a "Please Insert correct Disc" error. I checked my disc over really good, didn't have any problems with it. So, I decided to restore my system using a restore point to a time before I uninstalled Battlefield 2. Now, whenever I try to start Battlefield 2, I get a black screen and the following error:

    ERROR!

mods/bf2/shaders/lightning.fx not found!!! _DO_ check your working directory, _AND_ sync your shaders folder before calling upon your local rendering programmer/GP. (really!)

What, exactly, does this mean? It freezes up the entire game, and I have to ctrl+alt+del out of the game when it pops up. Any help would be greatly appreciated, this issue has been preventing me from starting Battlefield 2.

      To reinstall in this order:

      BF2 + Patch 1.3 + Special Force + Euroforces + patch 1.3 again.

To do this and solves the problem

Excuse but my English is very bad, I hope that you should work.

      Viva España!!!! jeje

Judging by the error message...it looks like were missing files in the shaders folder.

When uninstalling...copy profiles folders (program files and my docs) uninstall...delete all folders...reboot...reinstall...install patches as he ^^ said.

Paste copied profiles back to their original locations.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Ok, I've managed to get Battlefield 2 working, but the problem with Special Forces not reading properly persists.

This will not work as SF has an older patch and EF requires at least 1.21. Just change the order up and it should work:

              BF2 + Special Force + Patch 1.3 + Euroforces + patch 1.3 again.

Crashing back to the desktop after a black screen or two is probably a problem with your video card; for me I dl'd the new forceware driver for my 6600LE (91.28 (32-bit)). Google the bold words, and download the thing, it worked for me.

Ok, with the help of EA Support (God help me, I know). I managed to resolve the problem. I'll post the advice for everyone else here to follow:

For the problem I was having with the black screen, it was that restoring my system with a restore point did not restore the installation. I had to completely uninstall Battlefield 2, deleting the folders and everything, and then a clean reinstall eliminated the problem.

For BF2: SF, the problem was that I had disc 2 in instead of disc 1, which wasn't the install disc. I know, this sounds stupid, but for Battlefield 2 I only have 1 disc (a DVD), so it was one of those absent-minded mistakes that many people tend to make.

Hope this helps anyone who experiences similar problems in the future.
