Long Game Times = Choppy Gameplay

After I've been playing BF2 for awhile (various patch upgrades - so it's not endemic to one of the various patch updates) it seems that my game starts to get a bit choppy. It doesn't feel laggy - it feels choppy and is immediately corrected from a reboot. With the system that I'm running it doesn't seem like this should be a problem. Literally a couple hours 2-3 of gameplay will make my game feel like this. A reboot immediately solves the problem - This of course leads me to rebooting my machine everyday, and I don't believe this is something I should have to do. Has anyone else experienced this? My system specs follow:

Asus A8N-SLI Premium MoBo
520 Watt PowerSupply
BFG 7800GTX 256MB Video Card
AMD Athlon 64X2 4200+ Processor
OCZ 2GB RAM

What are your temps like while you're playing? Have you dusted inside your case lately?

Not sure what my temps are and no - I haven't dusted inside - probably not a bad idea I would guess.

Also, make sure you aren't running other background applications.

I turn EVERYTHING off including undeeded services. I do NOT want anti-virus apps, firewalls, filesharing, IM clients, or any of that crap running in the background.

But yeah, learn what your temps are like and make sure they are not too hot.

I don't have anything running at all in the background with the exception of TeamSpeak - all other apps are off. I might just go out to the local PC shop and pickup and additional cooling component to throw in there and see if it helps - it's certainly not going to hurt. Is there a way though to monitor temps in game? I know there is a command for fps etc., is there one also for temps?

Your GTX should have a built in temp monitor that you can access easily though.

right-click desktop
select 'nvidia display'
select your monitor from the list
choose 'temperature settings' from the tabbed list on the left

Also, "motherboard monitor" is a good program, here's a DL link for it - which you can set up to run while playing:

A quick fix, just to see if its heat related: Take the side off of the box before you play, and if you have a small household fan - have it blowing on the computer. I'd be curiuos to see if your problems go away after that.

My comp stays at a decent temp, but I play with the side panel off just to be safe.
