Adjust it so that only way commanders can drop vehicles is if a squad leader requests it. Some people will still expolit it, but it will reduce the instances where a commander is not supporting the ground pounders.

I am waiting for them to add dune buggys and motorcycles with rockets vs tanks.
i don't really see a prob with it, i tried one round to drop vehicles on people and only got 2 kills this way, someone has to be standing still for a long time to get them. And in fact most of the game i got so many request for vehicles i would send them to the requestors so they could move faster, maybe a better solution is to increase the time between drops?
I don't see the issue with 'Car-tillary' to be honest. There are a lot of people upset that commanders now have the option of dropping cars on snipers, choppers ect and think that it was a lame move by Dice....
Who cares?
It's not like a commander was unable to waste his time and the teams time before. With or without the vehicle drop option you will still get those commanders that waste arty strikes on one bloke for reasons of vengeance. If a commander plays half decently, he/she will realise that dropping a car for a squad to get them out of the sh*t is far more productive that flattening a sniper just for kicks (although it IS funny) :p
Time alone will solve the cartillary concerns. Once the novelty of "OMFG LMAO I just pwned your ass with cartillary" has worn off the majority of players will frown upon such actions.
Think about it...an ace pilot or attack chopper team could be grounded for an entire round by a vindictive commander with this exploit.
It just doesn't seem fair.
The ONLY way vehicle drop should be used is when a squad needs it...so the commander REALLY shouldn't have ANY say over how it is used in the battlefield.
For that matter...supply crates SHOULD BE THE SAME WAY! That way, more engies get a chance for repair points and we see less whoring commanders dropping supply crates just for their own armored vehicles.
I think having ALL commander toys (arty, uav, supplies, vehicles) only available as Squad Leaders request them would change this game for the BETTER! It would increase overall communication and would ensure that only people that truly enjoy commanding would choose the commander role.
Just add a random factor to the drop...+/- 5 meters will do. This way you can still drop for friendlies, but it'll be totally useless for pin point accuracy.
In addition you could have it only allow drops where Elevation == 0.
The above would solve about 95% of all issues I think.

I never thought of that, that's a DAMN good idea. ONLY let the commander drop a vehicle if it was requested. KICK ASS!!
If all commander toys were available at SL request only, it would also increase the role of the SL and help to separate that role from the role of the grunts in his squad... Not a bad idea.
The only problem is that, if it were implemented, SLs wouldn't bother requesting these things and the commander would therefore be pretty useless...

That's a great idea.
Also, I bailed over the water last night and requested a vehicle drop (thinking it would a dinghy).
