Crash on Startup.. Please help!

Okay, When i click on the .exe file for Battlefield 2 Online it comes up with a black screen, it idles for a while and then returns to the desktop. It then does nothing at all. I tryed changing the .exe to "windows" mode, this left no error message and did the same thing as "fullscreen" mode.

Processor Speed: 2010.2

DirectX Version: 9.0c

Display Device: NVIDIA GeForce 6600

Display Memory: 256.0

Display Driver: 6.14.10.7777

Sound Device: Realtek AC97 Audio

Sound Driver: 5.10.5885

Perhaps you could help me with this problem. Me and my dad have been trying to fix this problem for 3 weeks now. I even have bought a new motherboard and video card for this game.

Bf2 does wired things; looks like your vedio drivers need to be updated the newest drivers version 84.21 you using 6.14.10.7777 go to http://www.nvidia.com/page/home for new drivers

77.77 should be good. they work exceptionally well with 6600 line ...

I have the same problem. ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, 6.5 cat.. I seriously don't want to reinstall bf2 for the 30th time in 3weeks.. It's just takes so incredibly long and such a waste of time if it doesn't work. I'd like to play again

Did you try patching with the Full 1.3 patch??

I am in the same boat with this one.

Display Device RADEON 9800 PRO (Omega 3.8.231) - 128MB - Also tried the new Cat drivers, no go.
Display Driver 6.14.10.6601
Sound Device Vinyl AC'97 Audio (WAVE)
Sound Driver 6.14.01.4150

Thus far I had an Nvidia Fx5200, Ati Radeon 9200, and now this Ati RAdeon 9800 and get the same issue.

The game runs fine until I install ANY patch. This includes 1.1, 1.2, and even the newest 1.3.

I have edited the config file for the video settings, tried window mode with no error.

Set AGP to 4x.
Tried disabling sound card, no go.

Last case I blew away the os and reinstalled to get the same issue.

I am open to any suggestions on what to try at this point.

I had the same problem.

Reinstall BF2 -> Install patch 1.3 -> Install euro booster if u have it -> Install 1.3 again

That's what I did to fix that problem. But now I keep getting that damn "You have lost your connection to the server" message. arghhhh!

I've got a 9800pro. After installing the 1.2 and 1.3 patches, I started getting the same dump to the desktop on startup. I uninstalled the old catalyst drivers and reinstalled them. Works fine now. It seems the patch screws something up that a reinstall of the drivers fix.
