Just look at a movie? How fast do they flash the picture for your eyes to see? A refresh rate is just how many times your screen is being flashed (at least to my understanding) *goes to verify belief*

I was right for once! :) But yes 60Hz apparently caused flicker and eye strain. The new standard is 75Hz, however anything about 70Hz is believed to remove the flicker.

I read somewhere that If you have refresh rate loewr than 75hz , it hurts ur eyes. It is recommanded to have a refresh rate over 80hz.

So if this is true, how do I get my BF2 refresh rate over 80hz ? The limit in the video settings is 75.

Some say you can force it in the Nvidia control panel, but I have a ATI Radeon 9600 256mb.

So... what do u think ?

LOL, CRT consumer TV runs at 60Hz. My advice? stop watching tv and go get a radio.

my resfresh rate is at 50 or something around there at the moment. I ****ed it up a while ago by putting it really high and it couldnt take it... so it literally cracked (i heard a cracking noise) and it went shuttery so i had to turn it WAY down, so im playing at this until i get my 24' LCD from newegg. F*CK YES!!!!
24 inches, thats like almost the size of my dam tv. LOL

75hz is quite painfull for the eyes, 85hz is far far better. i have mine set to 120hz btw :)

check you have the right monitor driver, if you cant find it, uncheck hidden modes and try a few higher up, it will reset back if its unsupported.

Same for me. I'm currently running at 85Hz (monitor can go to 120Hz @ 1024x768 IIRC) and no pain for the eyes. Anything below it however, makes it impossible to use for more than 5 seconds because you can see it updating.

It totaly depends on what monitor it is. I had another one (also a CRT) that I could use at 72Hz, looked the same as my current monitor (with poor image quality however).

Well I guess the only ones on Earth that can tell the difference between 75hz and 85hz is you, space monkeys and some species of polar bear embryos...

with a CRT the difference between refresh rates are very noticable, with an LCD you wont notice anything really.

however for both lcd and crt a low refresh will cause tearing, so a screen at 75hz can only display 75fps correctly, any more and it will tear.
so there are 2 reasons to keep it as high as you can on a crt and 1 reason for an lcd.
