    *Sigh*

Well after playing a few hours on 1.3 and trying my best to tolerate it, I give up. The insane lag and the fact that commanders are using vehicle drops more as offensive / defense weapons rather than supporting their own team is pathetic. So I have a few questions:

    1. How to do you revert back to an older patch? Is there anyway to uninstall 1.3 without uninstalling Bf2 or is that the only way?

    2. Are there any servers left that run 1.12 (or older patches)?

    3. What will happen to my P90 / L96A1 if I go back to a patch when they were nonexistant?

    4. Do stats still count on older patches? All the stat websites list 100 hrs as medic, 750 heal points, and 20 heals IAR as requirements for exp first aid. If you go back to 1.12, where the 100 hr thing was nonexistant and it was 25 heals IAR, and get 25 heals IAR, will you get the badge?

    5. What patch is the best so far? I'm leaning towards 1.12 right now.

    6. Seeing as my clan is going to use 1.3 for tournys and I still want to participate in them, can you make 2 separate Bf2 programs, one of them 1.12 and another 1.3 so you don't have to go through all the installingn stuff everytime?

Please DO NOT make this a whiner thread. There are enough of those.

    1. You have to unistall - yes the patches too
    2. There are some but they are not "legit" ranked servers.
    3. No idea
    4. Servers have a few days to update to the newest patch. Some dont and even though they say they're ranked, the BFHQ stats system usually rejects any points. If this is true, you cant get badges in older patches
    5. Matters if you're a ground pounder or an helo/aviator. I prefibly like 1.12
    6. If you install to 2 different directories theoreticly it should work, but when you update the patches i'm not sure the automative patch would know what files to edit and what files not to edit - my guess is this would not work.

When installing the Special Forces xpack the game is reverted to v1.10 or something. That would suggest that installing any other patch would bring the game to that version, right?

Edit: This goes for the first question.

That will cause some MAJOR nasty problems.
Some files will get reverted to 1.10, but others will remain 1.3.

As stated above, if you want to roll back to 1.22, you need to do a full un-install, re-install (BF2 then SF), then apply the 1.22 FULL patch.

A friend had to do this a couple times to review old BR files.

So there's no way to just target a patch and remove it? Lame...
          I can't uninstall/reinstall every single week...
How do you patch Bf2 to two different directories?

              Just?
Hehe, just isn't the right word here.
Patches overwrite existing files. Without some tricky backup features (like used in Windows XP service packs) you can't magically "just" restore old content.

It's kinda like expecting to be able to make tomatos out of spagetti sauce.

              I haven't tried, but I've heard that it's possible.

Better only a couple well informed replies than a bunch of spam, yeah?

BTW, moving this to support 'cause that's where this thread belongs.

I thought I read a post where IndianScout stated that server companies cannot be "forced" to patch a server?

That's a lot of effort to just not play the already installed 1.3 patch. I just play a different game when ea messes up on the patches.
Is it fair that I have to play a different game just so it will work properly? No. Is there anything any of us can do to change it? Yes. Is there enough organized people out there to petition EA and boycott their game until they take more effecient actions on fixing it? No.
It's just like gas, everyone will bitch about the prices but no one has the drive to do anything about it.

But then can't you just isntall the 1.12 patch and overwrite 1.3?

                      Nope.

You can go up in patch numbers (ie 1.12 then 1.21 then 1.22 etc), but you cannot go in the reverse.

As Wargimp said "That will cause some MAJOR nasty problems".

Difficult when you just started a whiner thread....

Yes there are servers running older versions of the game but last time I checked thet don't record stats even if they are listed as ranked. So if you want your points to count you have to stick to 1.3
