This helped my game a lot!

I used to have a lot of times while I was playing where my game would just begin pausing about 5 times in a row for 5-10 seconds each time, then my game would resume and I was most likely dead, definately if I was flying a helicopter (which is when it happened most). I went in my video settings and changed a few things and I have no pausing or anything! Everything looks exactly the same and I get no lag. I just thought I would post this to help anyone with any pausing problems or... if you were just looking for new video settings.

My computer:

Pentium 4 3.4 GHz
1 GIG Ram
ATi x800 Pro 256 MB

Video Settings:

Resolution: 1280 x 1024 @76Hz
Terrain: High
Effects: Medium
Geometry: Medium
Texture: High
Lighting: Medium
Dynamic Shadows: Medium
Dynamic Light: Medium
Anti-Aliasing: Off
Texture Filtering: High

View Distance Scale: 100%

If you can spare the cash to get another gig of ram, i promise it will help you out leagues!!

I have a P4 3.2 ghz and an X800 XL 256mb, which is pretty close to the pro, maybe a little slower. I had 1 gig and played at all medium settings, no AA and 1024 X 768. Once I got another gig, i was able to put everything on high, 2X AA, and 1280 X 1024 and it all runs smooth! The key is that the memory helps take on all the extra load from the textures so your HDD doesn't have to do anything really.

Eh...I would jack ur video hz up past 80 at least...i read somewhere that it hurts ur eyes unless ur above it.

I thought the only in-game options for refresh rate where 60 Hz and 75 Hz...am I wrong?

Use the nvidia control panel to force the refresh rates. It's found in the overide refresh rates tab.

75 hz is still low enough to drive me nuts. I need 85 hz or more. But i have an LCD so flicker will never be a problem.

Well if the game only shows though 2 refresh rates then I have a feeling he does too.

You can force refresh to any Htz, but anything above the system specs on your monitor could damage it.

I have the X800 Pro and I think it is the card.. cause I have that same problem. It happens after it gets a little warm.
