BF2 problems...

All right, I recently got a cable line to my house, so I have beautiful high speed internet. That's not relevant, however....

I installed BF2, updated to v1.3 patch and when I try to open it, it'll act like it's starting the game by going through the series of black screens right before the game starts up, but will go right back to my desktop!

I tried a fresh install with the stock BF2 patch and it connects, but that's worthless because who is still on the 1.0 patch?

So, I tried the 1.22 patch, and once again, same results as the 1.3 patch.

What the hell is wrong with the game? I had played BF2 when I was living in the dorms with a patched version with no problem.

Well I can tell ya that BF2 did not break because you moved...

But a lot of people are having this problem, the only solution I have seen is to reinstall BF2...anyone else find a better solution?

Hrm, yet how can my video card run bf2 before this with no problem? Hmmm? How come I can run just about every other video game with no problem? Hmmm?

I do plan on building a new system this summer, but a new video card is not the answer to this problem.

have u installed it in the very same folder as before? If yes, try to install it to a different folder. Dont forget to backup your Profiles. After uninstalling u should also run regedit and delete all registry entrys that are associated with BF2. After you installed the game, DL www.evenbalance.com -> BF2 -> Software updates -> PBSetup and run it. It wil update your PB much faster and it wont lag ur online game.

PS: I advice the FULL 1.3 patch. I did a incremental update and wasnt able to start singelplayer until I reinstalled BF2 with full 1.3 patch. Since u have Cable, 500 MB wont hurt too much ^_^
