artillery versus armored vehicles << something new ?

Playing Commander after I installed 1.3, I have called artillery strikes several times on massed enemy armored formations, then used the zoom in feature to assess damage. Sometimes, all armored vehicles, including tanks, were destroyed. Is this something new ?

A direct hit has always killed armor, I don't know if anything has changed so that near misses do as well.

I've noticed "Cartillery" being used to take out Armor, but a direct artillery round impacting a vehicle will blow it to smithereens. Must've been a lucky shot you got there.

I have done this many times against enemy armor task forces manned by engineers. Sometimes it is the only way to break em up. There are certain areas around the Artillery placement marker where you can expect many shells to hit.

The new thing about dropping vehicles to block the armor from blasting an alley and give the people a chance to get away from the spawn. That is what I do sometimes when faced with armor that is sitting there spawn raping.

Rofl, cartillery... All you have to do is drop one of those on top of a plane and helo to destory it :/

Yeah really...taking out just 1 piece of heavy armor with arty is lucky...:p

Now in POE you can plink enemy tanks with a mobile artillery =)

I can be in a healthy tank, in a building and get hit by arty from the next flag over. I don't know why but I am an arty magnet. When my clan mates here the enemy arty going off they scatter away from me because they no where the arty is going to hit, me.

in my whopping 4 hours as a commander i don't think i've gotten a single armored vehicle with artillery. i'll zoom in during the strike and it will hit everywhere but the tank or apc.

The luckiest artillery barrage I ordered was when it destroyed two T-90s and one APC. Oh I was hopping with glee and joy like a child.
