Will BF2142 make use of Dual Processors?

Seeing as basically all of AMD's new processors are dual core X'2 do you think EA & DICE will take advantage of that and program the new game to take advantage of the extra processor?

probably no significant changes since it's using the same engine.

My guess: no support for dual core, dual CPU (opteron, xeon), or widescreen. Why would they go in and change their game engine now if they haven't already done so?

About the same likelyhood of EA/DICE making BF2142 any less bug free than Bf2 is i reckon....

Which is exactly why i shan't be buying it.

Technically they already do, all programs do. The program alone does not take full advantage of dual processors however it is technically two processors, and your OS will spread the programs over the two processors hence you will gain a small performance boost.

They might include support for physics cards, dual-core processors and all of the new technology in 2142. My guess is about 50/50.

There is no easy way to write for dual core, and it certainly would require a new or heavily modified engine. Which BF2142 doesn't have. So no.

i doubt they will use the first generation of physics cards seeing as they SUCK but if the next generation is any good they might support it

                  Well yes and no....

True, dual core is faster than single core even in games that only utilize one core because the other helps run background programs but if you close every nonessential background program anyways (like I do) it makes little to no difference in a game that isn't multi threaded...

well considering maybe .000001 % of the population can actually afford a rig like that, no.

What are you talking about??? AMD chips are a lot cheaper than Intel (for the most part) so those with out the "bling" to buy the expensive Intel Pentimum D will still buy a X2 AMD processor. Basically if you buy a new computer in the next year you will get a Dual Processor. The price tag is not as big as you must assume...

I HIGHLY doubt they will but gee, that would be nice! :)

AMD chips being cheaper than their Intel counterparts is such clichéd bullcrap. Frankly, it's waaaaaay cheaper for me to get a Pentium D 950 than a 4800 X2, while the 950 performs and overclocks better (X2 4800+ is twice as expensive as the 950 here (4800 = €600+; 950 = €300))

I answered "sure..." but "when" is a different matter. "When" will happen once enough of their market share goes to other games that utilize dual processors effectively.
