We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.
While all passwords are encrypted and salted, it's recommended that you change your password here when you can.
Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
The framework for the game is already in place, kind of like the substructure of a house. All a mod team has to do is open up a wall, change the plumbing, and maybe throw on a new coat of paint. Makes all the difference to the guests and owners (and totally ****es off the original builders by making them look like fools).
The main problem I've had with mods is low server support, and often when I can find an inhabited server it pings high for me and is laggy as hell. That's why I stick with Ranked BF2: not because I'm a points whore, but because I can find nice, low-ping servers with a full 64 players on them. I've yet to see any of this kind of activity with mods.
the problem with mod teams is that they take too long to make their mod.
There are very few complete mods out and by the time the community finishes theirs we will all be too busy playing QW or Crysis or 2142.
Erm completely wrong. Dice can make a game in a few years because they have 100 programmers/designers/consept artists/modelers etc, they can make 2142 in 6 months for the exact same reason.
Mod teams are normaly small, communicating almost always through the intenet, and usualy have a lack of skills in some area. There is also a lot of codeing involved, they have to learn how the BF engine works where as Dice already knows how it works.
they have to make/skin/code and place in game every model they make, they have to make all there maps and static models, they have to code new game modes, and make server scripts.
Then they have it test it all.
Its a lot harder than you might think, and as the old saying goes if you think it can be done better then do it yourself.
Is Jamie's 1337 mod out yet? Its been 2.5 hours already, ffs.
100% wrong. The problem here is that EA is pushing to have the next title in the series out WAAAYYY too soon, long before bf2 has reached its development cycle.
Ex: UT2K4, had the MSU contest "make something unreal", gave mods more than enough time to develop and distribute their mods. And now, they're coming out with UT2K7, thats 3 years, not 1 as EA is looking to do with bf2/2142.
As I said in another post, this signals the end of clan/dev/mod love by a developer, sacrificed for more sales on sequel titles. Hell, even Steam waited a good while to release Episode1 for HL2. Just shows where EA's allegiances lie...
