Last Man Standing Game Mode.

Guys, wouldnt a mode like this be pretty cool? Especially for you tactical folks that play the game. THe spray and pray crowd would probally hate it, but......

A mode, where once you die, you die. You can't respawn untill the round is over. Now.....i've played this mode in Unreal Tournament before. ANd sometimes you get that one idiot, just hiding to become........"last man standing." However to combat this, you could have a percentage. Like, once only 4% or whatever of your team is left, game auto ends, and you win.

If you think about it, it would be very fun. Major emphasis on commander assests. Less run and gun strats.......it would make a squad the best thing in the world to be in...
I would go further and make everything that spawns....spawn once as well.
In otherwords here......if your team starts with 2 tanks....thats all you get. Get one blown up.......your outta luck, no more tanks will spawn. Same with aircraft and helos.
Might sound lame to some, but a mode like this would really be cool, and incredibly intense.

ive had this idea for a while too, as i come from UT too.....i was only stuck at the idea where ppl will hide out, so maybe have a smaller indoor map?

i definately like the idea of incorporating more game-modes, but BF2 seems to be a conquest-or-nothing type of game

Try the Project Reality Minimod. Weapons are stronger, meaning that you have to be more cautious with both your movements and your aiming. Also, the respawn time is longer, so you will value the time you are alive more.

I've always hated gameplay where you have to sit out for the entire round after you die; it feels cartoonish ala Counter-Strike and there's nothing to do while you're dead.

I totaly get that. And thats the BIG drawback to a mode like this being popular. Perhaps, when you die, you can go into a free camera mode, so you can look at whats going on within the battlefield to pass the time, however you couldnt "chat" as to give away locations, etc. Better yet, and this is fantasy here, but when you die.... you get connected to yahoo checkers, untill next round starts.....lol :)
But seriously I think if your competitive, and start placing extreme value on your movements and with weapon choices, you'd find that you would stay alive alot longer. And lets not forget about TEAMWORK. Teamwork to the extreme would insist that you stay alive a very long time.

Dying once and not being able to respawn is cartoonish? Isn't that backwards? I guess I would figure the whole 'respawning' thing was the cartooney part.

Yeah, spawning out of nowhere is rather cartoonish, but the entire team just magically coming back to life after slaughtering each other the previous round seems just as cartoonish to me.

I think this could work, but the whole between round score screen should be removed for this mode to speed it up slightly...a lot of people have annoying slow-downs on that screen on a normal game...

And robotic USB controlled paintball guns that shoot at you to make it super duper real. And if you get killed, an IV with some nasty stuff should knock you out for a while, at least a few hours.[/sarcasm]

Put it this way: do you think spawning from a predictable place will make spawn camping harder? Random spawn locations put the spawner and camper on almost equal footing.

Har-de-har-har. What I'm trying to say is that both are rather unrealistic, but spawning instantaneously after death is more fun than sitting around and waiting for the next round to start.

I've always liked the idea of no respawn.

It'd be way more fun and chalanging to play.


Also, once you die, you'd have lets say, a minute or two to die completely before the medic comes and saves you. No respawn crap etc. Would be way cool!

I wouldn't like it becuase if you died from a noob you couldn't even continue playing and the game would be pointless.

However having a set amount of lives, like 5 or so, until you're out, would be cool.

That's just like America's Army (with the free camera, etc.). It's pretty fun for a while, but it gets frustrating and dull quick. Especially when you die in a cheap way.
