If you really want to "fix" the problem do the following:
    1. Only allow vehicles to drop onto objects at Elevation=0
    2. Increase the variance of the drops significantly (+/- 10m)

That's it. Those two changes would reduce the problems with 'Cartillery' by at least 80%.

Personally I think those limits should be a server variable.

    kudos l33t commanders.
The reset time for the Vehicle drop is fast - I think its only 20 seconds.

Also alot of times, as commander, I'm busy with all the other duties of commanding to have time for Cartillery, especially if there are multiple battlelines to deal with.

Variation would definetly make Cartillery less abusable.

Hehe, I wonder if suggesting it would be considered "whining"?

yeah but you answer requests for cartillery right?

would you drop it on a snipers head if i was a squad leader and asked you to?

Which brings me to you wargimp:

You don't want to use cartillery - but what if a squad leader asks for it on an enemy sniper (who is on the ground and the SL will be able to use it afterwards). Would you just drop it next to the squad and hope they fire up the .50 cal on the DPV before the sniper hit them?

I didn't like cartillery until i thought of that.

          Re: Commanders: Abstain from Cartillery!

I've actually already done such a thing. Saw a whole bunch of enemy infantry moving on a position that looked very week, so I tossed the couple of defenders a car. Someone managed to grab is and ran down a big chunk of the attacking force.

Mostly when an SL requests something (and I have it avalible) I only do a cursury check to make sure it's not a silly request before I authorize it. I don't think SLs can really be accurate enough in their requests to make cartillery effective, tho.

Of course. Experienced commanders see one of his guys advancing towards a flag, or basically getting away from the large battle, they'll stop Cartillery, wait for the timer to reset, and and place it in front of him - that's what this feature was ment to do. Or the poor guy who spawned at a flag with no vehicles...a good commander will definiately answer his request the next cycle unless there's something really pressing. Good teammates will ask for it ahead of time, but experienced full-time commanders (boy I get knifed alot by pilots who bail out over me), will antisipate a vehicle drop request.

Well, the problem is the squadleader can't drop the cartillery with enough accuracy to kill a sniper, but commanders can in x1 view. Hopefully these squadleaders will communicate with their commanders over VoIP and say, "Hey commander, can you take out that sniper on that building top?" - doing this will save our side tickets.

              Re: Commanders: Abstain from Cartillery!

Question, though. A vodnik can run right over you and not kill you if you go prone between the wheels. Would that happen with "cartillery"?

I still prefer supply crates though... much more satisfying.

I sometimes give enemy a vehicle on purpose. See alot of times your armor can't kill enemy infantry because they are in inside or on top of buildings. If you place a jeep where they'll use it they jump into it and go on a road towards a flag OUT IN THE OPEN. Now if I see my armor advancing towards a flag wouldn't it be better that the guy be in a jeep than laying in wait with his AT rocket out OR in the Tow missle to take out my armor advancing on the position.

Granted, it doesn't always work because the guy actually gets away, but my armor gets to cap that flag and I drop artillery or cartillery on the guy wherever he goes - gotta destroy that jeep so I can use it for my next Cartillery barriage.

Additionally, my snipers can kill an enemy in the turret of a jeep MUCH EASIER than juking on foot. Again, if I know one of my snipers is coving a position (by looking at what way his arrow is pointing), and a good distance away, so my sniper doesn't get mowed down, he'll take him out. I've done this on flags and my snipers have killed like 4-5 guys before they get the wiser. I know when my commander does that (I communicate over VoIP), he drops it and I'm sitting there laying in wait as they enter the vehicle ready to headshot the guy as he enters the vehicle - much easier to hit a guy in a jeep than running around on foot. Although it doesn't always work, its still situational.

I pray for the silly commander to try and drop a vehicle on me as a sniper. I like the HMG they just geared me with - and for the commander letting me know that they are aware of me lol!

Tonight i was victimized by cartillery for the first time. I feel violated. Definately a jacked up useage of an otherwise good for support advantage.

They should still limit the frequency of the vehicle drops. They reload faster than the UAV, and a way faster than arty and supply crate plane, which is stupid.

"Cartillery" is not the most effective use for vehicle drops!

Players should already be well aware of the dangers of large objects falling from the sky and dropping cars on 'em is easily countered by them holding down "E". Also, any commander worth their salt should know that making kills with artillery/supply boxes/falling buggies actually hurts their own command score overall.

On the otherhand, dropping vehicles for people stranded at bases without vehicles or out in the middle of no-where, keeps 'em moving. If they're moving, they're likely to be scoring points/killin people.

Be a good commander... drop the cars for your team instead of on the enemy!

Side note: Grunts, PLEASE don't stand directly under friendly car drops! As with the big red circle, the falling car icon does not mean "Run here and get TKed by the commander"!

Oh my...I don't think it'll work with UAV or Scanner (the vehicle will just slide off), but I'll give it a try.

I wonder how much damage the vehicle does when it explodes next to an asset?

How come I don't get credit for kills with Cartillery, but I DO get credit for TKs?
