I got it yesterday and i'm loving the new maps, weapons and vehicles.
The only gameplay changes I can think of are the obvious ones, you have a hook, night vision goggles, tear gas, and gas masks. So theres bound to be a bit of change.
What I like most is the emphasis on infantry, the maps are generally smaller and hence there are less vehicles. Anyway, in the UK it's only 15 pounds so even if you don't like the game you still get some new weapons.Comment

There's generally more emphasis on infantry than in vanilla BF2. There tends to be fewer vehicles, and there are no jets at all in SF. So if you'd call that a gameplay change, then yes. But the fundamentals of the game are essentially the same.
It's good. Get it. And maybe look at any of the many other threads asking exactly the same question. There are two others on the first page of the forum, one of which even has the same thread title as this one - word for word identical!Comment

Tear gas makes people affected cough and choke. Their vision goes blurred and they are unable to sprint. It makes it difficult to see and difficult to move. The effects last quite a while too, if you get a big dose of it.
It can be combatted by using a gasmask, but with the mask on you lose some of your peripheral vision.
And the gas itself is thick and yellow-ish in colour, so it also works similar to a regular smoke grenade from vanilla BF2 as well, hiding positions from the enemy through the cloud even if they're not affected by the gas.
Tear gas is a support kit weapon, so you have an infinite supply of cannisters as long as you remember to resupply yourself.Comment
