Ok.... I have installed BF2 and BF2 Special Forces. I have done this 3 times now, and each time when I login it takes 30 minutes or longer! What do I do? I tried hitting ESC. The only way I get out of game is to reboot...

I'm experiencing almost the same problem where my Login takes just over a minute when it use to only take 3-8 seconds before 1.3. If anyone knows how to fix this I would be very much appreciated.
P.S.- it's nothing big but I would like to login in a little faster :P 1 minute isn't that long but when it use to be 8 seconds at most kind of noticable :)Comment

1.3 messed A TON of things up, mainly because EA rocks. Anyways, for wasntme: I do not know how to fix that, for Addequate: looks like your gonna have to live through it

Seemed to me the day the patch came out I had problems logging in, even though I hadn't installed the 1.3 patch.
This seems the only way I can log into my account.
If I start the game in single player mode (not the online desktop icon) and sign as a default player then once at the main game menu screen click multiplayer and then join internet and then sign in after clicking 'back' ''select new account'' select my normal account name it'll connect ths way without any problems at all. Seems the only way I can get to sign in

The problem is that if for example you have 30 servers in your favourites and 20 have yet to update to patch 1.3 then that's 20 * 5 seconds of an extra wait to log in.
Try this :
1 ) Open up the general.con file in \Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001 and delete all your server favourites.
or
2) Run BF2 and go to your favourite servers. Delete all those that are listed RED. Every server in red will add 5 seconds onto the time it takes to connect to the account server.Comment

I have always had extremely long login times. It used to take about 4-5 minutes, but after 1.3 it takes me 7 minutes or longer. Last night, it took over 15 minutes.
I did as was suggested earlier in this thread and removed all but about 15 servers (all online; green) from my favorites list and it still takes a lifetime to log in.
I removed most of the intro videos because I figured maybe those were messing with my processor. That didn't help with the slow login.
Does anyone have any more ideas?
Also:
How do I keep BF2 from automatically dropping me into a server after login? That is, I would like go right to the main menu, not wait to unload resources after cancelling the auto-join.
How can I prevent visited servers from being recorded into my favorites list? That is, how do I prevent my Favorites list from being inundated affter I've gone pubbing?

yasuchika delete the 'play now' icon that you are using to connect to BF2 and just use the regular 'battlefield 2' icon.Comment

Awesome.
I pinned that "play now" one to the Start menu forever ago. I switched it out for another icon I found in the BF2 files.
It solved everything.
