    Burst fire and auto

    Which do you prefer?

I keep on hearing players rave about how good the g36e is, but i don't like this gun at all. I much prefer auto guns to burst. I just find them to be very inaccurate and weak. Anyone got any tips on how to use burst fire guns effectively?

I actually prefer the M16 and the 3 round burst to the full auto. By limiting your fire to 3 rounds at a time it stays accurate, and if you can learn to master it you can fire far faster in CQC than the AKs.

I prefer the AK101 against any of the other weapons in the medic class. When I need burst I can make it burst, when I need single shot I can make it single shot, it's easy enough (without changing the firing mode).

I generally prefer the full auto option to the burst... I like that I can just nail the trigger if I get surprised close-up, where it's a question of spary-n-pray and hope that you empty your gun at the enemy faster than he empties his at you. I'm also in favour of the oft-quoted "short controlled bursts on full auto can loose off just a couple of rounds at a time and thereby save you ammo and help accuracy, whilst retaining the full auto help on tap if you need it". That's how I play with most guns. And at first, I hated the G36E for this reason (no full auto). I still hate the M16 for this reason (no offence to the M16 lovers - I'm not saying it's crap, because I've seen it used to very good effect, I'm just saying I don't like it).

But... I have to say I know love the G36E. The bullets are laser-guided and rattle out of the gun at a hell of a rate. 900 rounds per minute and deadly accurate mean that two quick clicks of the mouse will drop your target most of the time. It's great at all (reasonable) ranges (obviously not into the sniper-type range though, due to the lack of a scope), and in terms of damage it deals out per second (on target too), I don't think there are many guns that can match it.

It took me a bit of practice with it to get used to the 3-round burst though. Stick with it, you'll get there.

I have started using single shot a lot more, I find this is the mode I now use most of the time.

Anything up close and I'm on auto/burst - either do fine for me.

Gotta agree with Gav, just have a full auto gun & learn how to fire short bursts. Works for me.

That's right. Autofire is easier to handle than burst-fire. But I think G36e is still the best weapon for medics because it's more versatile than the ak. In Close Combat (in-house fight @ warlord for example) the ak rocks but not if you wanna hit an enemy which is far away.

G36E is excellent close combat provided you hit your opponent first, however if you miss first your dead. The gun sucks over mid/long distances whereas the other medic unlock is good all round.
