Rebuttal From Admin Pauses The Game Topic
There was a topic started by Skwurl about an admin that paused the game. That admin was me. However with all the responses that his topic generated, the people here deserve to hear my side of what had transpired on my server.
One of the rules I have in place is that "those who attack uncappable flag areas wil be swiftly erased without notice". I was getting numerous complaints that day (5/18/06). I kept sending messages demanding to know who on the chinese team was attacking the carrier. Nobody would respond. I then went into the bf2cc admin screen & warned all players that if a name wasn't divulged that I would stop the server. No names were given & thus I paused the game. The game was paused for a period of 3 minutes. Yes I do understand that nobody can type or play on a paused server. But I had to get my point across somehow. Players could've easily emailed me with a name but failed to do so.
Upon the server resuming, a player (Skwurl) had sent a message mentioning about noone being able to type while the server is paused. I told him that if nobody is going to come forward then that was the consequence that will be faced with.
2 other rules I have in place are NOT to camp or spawn kill. Yes in real life war, there's no rules. But this is a game & as such, rules apply. Skwurl was in the game & periodically was foulmouthing players. He also was spawn killing. I had 3 players complain to me about this. Skwurl states in his thread that he was "banned due to excessive team killing". That is far from thr truth. At 9:07pm EST, the message Skwurl got was "You have been permanently erased".
I'll admit that I do tend to rule my server with an iron fist. But my iron fisted ruling has garnered many regular players. When I first got my server, it was only a 16 slot. After experimenting with different maps, I kept it on Dragon Valley. The server became so popular that I had to upgrade it to a 32 slot. Mant times, it's at a full 32 player capacity. So, iron fisted ruling has paid off.
Posting a pic of me in here waqs very chilish. Calling me Stalin, etcc doesn't tick me off at all. I ahve better things to concern myself with than childish pranks.
Those of you in here that would like to come visit my server & see how well it's run are more than welcome. The ip is 72.232.89.77
