FPS problem..(No, not just low FPS)

I've always had a ok FPS on BF2 on my settings, Medium-high

But, like a week ago, my BF2 started acting weird. When i join a game, say, after 3 minutes, i go to 3FPS for no reason. It always happen after some time. It doesn't matter what i do at the moment, stare at the wall or avoiding APC's in a arty shower.

Then it gets back to my usuall FPS for a few minutes, then back to 3FPS for a few minutes, etc..

    It's friggin impossible to shoot ;_;
Anyone know what may cause the problem? I did not do anything special at the day it happened...No downloads, no pr0n, no nothing.

I've also tried lowering the settings down to lowest, but it didn't work. What i noticed though is that 1VS1 i barely got this problem.

I've had this for a week, and i'm tired of it now. I though it would go away by itself =(

It doesn't matter, since my problem is not that my hardware is too slow.

      But here they are..
      P4 2.8 HT
1 Gigabyte of RAM(Don't know what kind)
      GeForce 6600 vanilla

And wich medium-high, i don't mean shadows or anything, so it's not that i need to lower the settings.

      Reinstalling didn't work either, btw.

                Any fix to the problem?
My computer can handle those settings fine, thanks, i explained my problem above. It worked fine until a day it just happened.

And, if my computer couldn't handle it, how come when i'm not lagging i have FPS over 30?

Sorry for being hostile, but you said what i pretty much said you should not say.

Did you use a driver cleaner when you installed new drivers?

delete your bf2 cache, maybe that's the root of the problem..

                      No, i don't use a Driver cleaner.

Clearing cache or re-installing did not work

What i did for drivers is delete everything in the NVidia folder(The drivers, that is) then installed the latest one..

I assume thats kinda bad >_>
There is a new one i saw on the forums that i don't have yet, i'll try to install that one.

I don't think it's your drivers. Are you sure that you have no applications running in the background?

I have a clanmate who has this exact problem, ati card I believe, he posted here a month or so ago w/no real solutions...

Same issue, has a great PC, but FPS goes under 10 after getting in game. Tried deleting / replacing cache, and after 1.3 came out he did a complete reinstall and still has the problem. Good luck......

Sounds like heat to me man.

Get some compressed air, turn off your computer, and blow the sucker out... the CPU heatsink and Videocard heatsink can collect massive amounts of dust that can rob a heatsink of its ability to cool properly.

Also check to make sure that all your case fans still work, if an exhaust fan dies, for example, all that hot air will be trapped in your case.

I have this same problem but it goes down to 25-30fps after a few seconds. Its not heat either, as the card never tops 60*C and other games run fine. After the latest drivers FEAR gets even better performance, so it seems to be BF2.
