Cannot open BF2, please help

ok well this happened both before and after i got the 1.3 patch so i know thats not the problem. i had my x1800 clocked relaly high so i unlocked it and it still wont open. it shows the BF2 logo thing, screen goes black, then it returns me to the desktop. i dusted off the disk, and still nothing.
what could be the problem, anyone?

Cleared you cache? Tried reinstalling?

Umm yeah what? I'm in same boat.. I just reinstalled bf2 after complete deletion. Registry, my documents, all trace.. I seriously don't want to reinstall this for the 50th time..
