BF2 1.3 crash

I patched the incremental, go to play BF2 it goes to a black screen, then it crashes to desktop any ideas? and if I have to reinstall is it

BF2 > SF > 1.3 full?

Same exact problem. It starts, and before I get to menu I get a destop crash. Half baked EA products. Of course official forums are locked and they're no help.
