BF2 will not start up after 1.3 patch

I just get the loading screen and a black screen for a few seconds before I get returned to my desktop

CTD errors post-patching are a result of something interrupting the patching process. Reinstall.

I had the same.

I then reinstalled and repatched fine.

Make sure you haven't modified any of the files that the patch needs including renaming the bf2.exe file.
