If you are getting CTD with 1.3 - change your .exe name back to BF2.exe

Either way having installed patch 1.3 incremental Battlefield 2 no longer loads beyond the intial splash image. Tried the full patch hoping it would overwrite the past but the same problem. Hopefully I am not alone in this - this being the first ever technical problem I have had with this game. However, unfortunately for me a reinstall is out of the question - my DVD drive is kaputt.
Pretty bad way to end my love of BF2 ... it hurts alot

My specs (in the vain hope that someone else might share the same issue)
p4 3.0gHz
ATI RAdeon 9700 128mb
512mb RAM

Edit - I use a virtual image of BF2, please let that be the reason

I use a virtual image of the BF2 disc and it works fine.

Just a suggestion, but not sure if that's the problem

Open up Task Manager and kill BF2.exe

Sometimes when I open BF2 and if something happens (whatever) and I need to run it again, when I run it, it opens the BF2 splash screen (still on the desktop) and then it dissapears and that's it. That's because the other BF2 is still runing in the background, once I kill it in Task Manager (End Process)... it works just fine.

But I could be totally off track here.

I use an image all the time (alcahol120/deamon tools) both to install and play, never had any trouble with it, cdt usually because of interweb connection problems.... havn't installed the patched yet so heres hoping

Long story, but due to a scratched dvd and a new HD install, I had to move over my copy of bf2 from my old drive, patch it (NOT 1.3 related), and do some other things to get it to work...

Anyways, I couldn't get passed the splash screen as well. I searched these forums and found out where someone had done something simliar. I ended up deleting my bf2 folder from 'my docs' and it worked just fine. I put my .con file back in, had my old settings, and haven't had an issue since then.

Just a suggestion - remove your bf2 folder, from "my documents", save it though, and see what happens....sometimes the folder gets 'corrupted' by the patching process and this could be your issue.

Also try to manual update Punk buster. That always %$*($%*($)%*$ me up.

DO NOT download the file linked to by "BF2035", it is a .rar file containing a virus (video.exe)
