Ignore - I'm so relieved that it turned out to be so easily fiaxable
Solution -
If you renamed your .exe change it back to BF2.exe and repatch if necessary

Either way having installed patch 1.3 incremental Battlefield 2 no longer loads beyond the intial splash image. Tried the full patch hoping it would overwrite the past but the same problem. Hopefully I am not alone in this - this being the first ever technical problem I have had with this game. However, unfortunately for me a reinstall is out of the question - my DVD drive is kaputt.
Pretty bad way to end my love of BF2 ... it hurts alot

My specs (in the vain hope that someone else might share the same issue)
p4 3.0gHz
ATI RAdeon 9700 128mb
512mb RAM

Edit - I use a virtual image of BF2, please let that be the reason

Same here , right after login to multi account
Game WILL WORK singleplayer , ofcourse it worked quite flawless before , just 2 hours ago I was playing with no CTD now I cant even login .

Anyone can help ?

Dont get me started what I think about EA , they can go multiply themself ( but not in those same words ) .

Same problem, BUT i have my exe called BF21.exe so it didnt get patched in the patcher. Was your exe called BF2.exe when u ran the patch? if not then your game didnt get patched right

But at my case it was bf2.exe , no image MDF used , no other mods or tweaks , PB installed and updtaed , etc .

Why wont the **** game work ? it crashes after I try to login to account server but it will play just fine if I use a singleplayer account .

It wont let me patch again after changing the name back to BF2.exe, am i missing something?

Now able to login as a 'default name account' whenever I click to start a single or multiplayer game I get a CTD.

I just installed the full over the incremental and now it works again

How do I check this?

My game crashes to desktop just as soon as I hit the "join" button when the map has finished loading..

I did the incremental patch..

Should I have done the full patch?

I did the full, and it crashes as soon as i run the actual game..

Pretty stupid - a server owner can't access his own server because EA messed up!!

ALWAYS run the FULL patch, and reboot your comp... That is what i have done all the time, and have no issues at all with patching.
