My Mic is plugged in and the enable voip is selected. It is hard to find a server that doesn't have voip.Comment

Re: Voice over IP Problems
I have been having a similar problem for the last couple of days, when previously everything worked fine.
When I press the "B" button, I don't get the little green speaker icon anymore, even though my VOIP is enabled and I'm on servers I know it worked fine on a few days ago. In any case I can hear my other squad mates so I know the servers have voip working ok.
I tried (when squad leader), pressing v to see if I could talk to the commander, it made the usual "channel open" type noise, but I didn't get a yellow icon and I don't think the commander could hear me.
I also tried re-assigning the push to talk button - no joy - so I then tried re-re-assigning it back to "B" and again, it still doesn't work.
Maybe I should try reinstalling the game?

Re: Voice over IP Problems
After you join a server, Alt-Tab and unmute your microphone in both the Playback and Recording volume controls. EA supposedly knows of this problem but refuses to (or doesn't know how to) fix it.Comment

Re: Voice over IP Problems
Having the same issue, although mine happens partway through the game. Microphone works correctly as does the soundcard for every other purpose. Microphone is plugged directly into the soundcard, not the front panel. Reinstalled BF2, all the patches through incremental, then second attempt through full 1.3.
I will play for 5 minutes with the B and V buttons working, then all of a sudden, VOIP stops for me. I can exit back into the menu's and see my defaults have changed. Here is a screenie of before hopping in game, and then also one of about 5 minutes in as I can see it. The Microphone Boost toggle and the VOIP Enable toggle no longer allows me to enable it without me exiting and reloading the game.

Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Lucky Shot
Kept searching until I found an answer...
Went into DXDiag, edited sound and dropped the quality to Basic and that cleared it up.
