We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.
While all passwords are encrypted and salted, it's recommended that you change your password here when you can.
Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
Hi i have been playing BF2 since it came out i have over the last few weeks encountered graphics lag, this is not due to a bad graphics card nor a bad connection i formatted 2 times and still the same problems. i play GR3 on everything on the highest settings with no lag, can someone shed some lihgt ?
i have :
AMD64 3000+
2x SATA 7200rpm HD
GF6800 ultra XFX
16MB internet
I know how you feel mate. Ever since the 1.22 patch mine has been the same. I keep fraps on all the time so I can constantly keep my ‘frames per second’ in check. Before then I used to run everything on High with stable frame rates that stayed between 30 and 80fps. Special Forces is now virtually unplayable for me because the frames mostly range between 18 and 30 (major lag). Vanilla now gives me around 20 to 40fps.
I had already optimised my system and don’t run any firewalls or Anti-virus scanners e.t.c on my gaming system. I’ve updated my Nforce and Nvidia drivers, I’ve tried adjusting the video settings in different ways and none of it seems to make any difference to it. Even when all the settings are on low the result is the same as them all being on high! Even playing Singleplayer in small maps with 16 AI bots has the same result. I just don’t get it.
I’ve narrowed it down to the players/character models. I can walk around in an empty map and get 70 to 90fps. As soon as the player models start appearing the frame rates begin to drop. The more models there are in view the lower the frame rate/greater the lag. A full 64 player server is a nightmare! I get as low as 18fps regularly.
Like I said this problem has only occurred since patch 1.22. DooM 3 is a much better looking game and I can run that in Ultra high detail no problem (30 to 60fps). Except for when I get to the big nasty Cyber demon at the end of the game that is… 18fps!
My System:
AMD Athlon XP thoroughbred 2700+ CPU
Asus Nforce 2 motherboard
2GB DDR PC3200 Corsair memory
XFX Nvidia GT6800 256MB video card
Creative Soundblaster 5.1 Sound card
How about anyone out there with an Nvidia Geforce 6800 GT or Ultra 256MB tell us what driver version you are using 'if your BF2 is running with decent frame rates'?
And a link to download that version would also be helpful.

Sometimes an uninstall and reinstall is the only way. Be sure to use "RegCleaner" (free download) to clean your regestry after uninstalling and before reinstaling.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling too especially after patch 1.3 screwed up the games ability to even work without an instant CTD. I've never used RegCleaner though. The registery is a scary place for me to touch.
I've always been told that messing with the registry is risky business. So now I worry about screwing up my system.
With RegCleaner, you launch and it shows all programs listed by name so you can tell exactly what it is you are removing. ReqCleaner makes a backup before it removes anything so you can simply reverse any action in one click.
Because programs in RegCLeaner are clearly identified, you won't inadvertenaly mess anything up.

Ah yes thanks but I did a Google for it just after I posted. *Got brave* I realise it's a fairly straight forward little program and the help page explains everything. So Ive installed it now, uninstalled BF2, Regcleaned all the leftover patch registry entries and reinstalled BF2. Let's hope this works!
If it doesnt work, and you have a firewall running, that might be the problem. I had the same issue, terrible lag all of a sudden...especially after the 1.3 install. Just try deleting BF2 from your allowed programs list...it'll prompt you again to allow or not next time, select allow, and be on your way.

Cheers!
I got a Dell XPS Gen2 with an nVidia 6800 Ultra. The card has 256mb. The laptop's got 2GB.
I'm not gonna blow smoke up your ass and give you hope. It's 1.3 Period. I had NO problems until 1.3 Suddenly and instantly, I have major lag. Nothing else changed on my box.
