    Joystick help.

I have a Saitek ST290 Pro and i have a problem with it!
The throttle lever only seems to put the plane in full forward or full backwards?
Is it because it is hard-wired intot he joystick or am i doing something wrong?

    Oh yeh 100th post

    Re: Joystick help.

Do you need any of Saitek's software to be running for the joystick to work? If not, disable any of that and try it 'naked'

Throttle control should be analog...not digital. BF2 usually recognizes throttle control just fine and it should show up as an axis and not a button when you map it. How does it appear to you when you map the throttle in the BF2 control config screen?

Can you find the following line in your controls.con file and post what yours says?

        ControlMap.addAxisToAxisMapping c_PIThrottle IDFGameController_0 IDAxis_3 1 1

              Try changing this line:
              ControlMap.addAxisToAxisMapping c_PIThrottle IDFGameController_0 IDAxis_2 1 0

              to read like this:
              ControlMap.addAxisToAxisMapping c_PIThrottle IDFGameController_0 IDAxis_2 1 1

                  Ok..was worth a shot

If you have a joystick test screen in the Windows Control Panel->Game Controllers applet, do you see the throttle moving as analog when you use it?

Ok, well if the rest of your axes are working properly, then at least your joystick is functional.

I'll keep thinking on this one but I don't know anything about Saitek joysticks.

In the meantime, try making sure that all other USB gaming peripherals are unplugged and try scanning Task Manager to see if any Saitek processes are actually running in the background and 'end task' for any that you see.

Also, try plugging the joystick into another USB port.

This wont help you much but i have the exact same joystick i dont use any software etc and the throttle works fine in bf2 so it must be something to do with you in game settings.

Well, it's nice to have confirmation that your model of joystick DOES in fact work fine with BF2.

Sambuka, does the joystick install ANY software at all?

No the joystick doesnt use any software although you can use software i think but i have never bothered as its just another pointless program running. As far as the joystick is concerned it has never failed in bf2 so it has to be some settings. Have you tried the stick in any other games. Also are you sure that the stick isnt working properly best way would be to jump in a chopper and put bout half throttle on.
