    Quake vs. BF

Ok, many people have been commenting lately on the Quake: Territory Wars vs. Battlefield 2142 issue. I've noticed that alot of these people tend to go towards the Quake side, but I'm here to argue this point. Here are my reasons:

    1. The reason the BF series sells so well is because EA makes sure it does, teams of marketing and advertising consultants are working day and night to help produce a game that YOU, the consumer will buy. Quake is here to make a game. The research done by these advertisers helped to make the BF franchise one of the best-selling-most-fun games of 2005-2006. The reason? Because its based on one of the simplest acts of human nature. People don't like to do things for free...therefore, people need an incentive to be pushed towards a certain decision or action. The BF series provides this incentive, care to guess what it is? Its the unlocks. Without unlocks, BF and Quake would be the same: a stone-age style fighting game with futuristic weapons. The unlocks provide a reason that gamers continue to play the game, something that all their work will amount to: new equipment that will give them an edge over other players, its that simple: the reason that Quake will lose out to BF 2142. If you buy it anyways...you'll eventually come to the winnng side and join use greedy BF 2142 punks :shoot: QUAKE :salute: BF2142

I should probably point out that it is Enemy Territory : Quake Wars and not Quake: Territory Wars

Maybe the game should come out first and then we can argue.
How one can tell which one is better if he had not try the other?

First, this is my experience with Quake. The last time I played any Quake title was in 2001 which was Quake 3 I think, and all it was, was a buncha weird thundercat looking MoFo's bouncing around like they had pogosticks coming out their asses shooting each other with laser guns. So yea, I quickly dropped that from my list. However it does seem to be popular so I'm sure my perspective on it is way off. I just don't have the time to really dedicate to more than one title online.

And 2, Carrot, You think everyone plays for unlocks? Or Ufcking not, I play to kill people without goign to prison for 300 years. I look forward to expansions with new maps and vehicles. But new weapons are by no means my motivation for playing BF2.

            3. WTf does this have to do with anything relevant to anything?

lol if most of you had played the original enemy territory and read any previews of QW showing game ideas and screenshots ud know its gonna pwn the socks off 2142 in a flash

games that are actually meant to be games are always better than EAs next money making scheme

So far Quake Wars is in the lead. People seemed to like it better at E3 over bf2142. BF2142 placed 9th and Quake Wars placed 4th for top pc games at the show. Also Quake wars won best multiplayer game for pc.

Still a long way to go with development.

I'm the same. I think I will love BF2142, but don't know about QW. To me the gameplay is the more important. And for gameplay nobody (NOBODY I said) knows before you play it for a while. We can say anything we want, but the only real test is with the DEMO or when you buy the game. Go and check all the expectations that Ghost Recon fans had for GRAW and see now their BIG DISAPOINTEMENTS now that the game is released.

Personnaly, I won't have time to be dedicated to two big games at the same time. For now, I know I like the BF gameplay style. I'am an ex-Unreal player and I prefer BF style (more stategy, not just run, jump and gun) now.

I don't know what QW will be in term of gameplay. I have never played W:ET, so I don't know if that one was Quake style (run, jum and gun). Was it?

If QW is like Quake 3 or 4 Style, I won't like it. Buit if it is like BF, I will like it.
