I see a lot of people saying BF2 Vanilla, Armored Fury Vanilla, etc'. Does that have something to do with unlocks being available in Original BF2? And will AF be like that?

Vanilla = Plain. No mod, no expansion...just plain BF2 without the toppings.

Vanilla just means plain (as in Ice cream). It means unaltered, no mods - that kind of thing.
