I got that error before, I had to reinstall. It happened to me after I uninstalled bf1942.

I got this error ages ago last year, sorry i cant remember what the problem was at all. I guess reinstall?

I know you are talking about Bf2. But I got this error befoe to right after I uninstalled my bf1942. I read somewhere that installing an older battlefield series game can cause problems with BF2. reinstalling did the trick.
