Bit late to start now seen as it's going to be gone in the next patch.

        Re: Solo-ing Attack Choppers

The soloing never bothered me a great deal, but the fact that seat switching can be used to avoid AA lock-on makes it 10x cheaper. Today on FuShe, I was in the PGZ and was locked onto the AH-1Z, when he drops flares, then spins towards me. The flares dissipate and it's starting to lock onto the chopper again. As soon as a I shoot the missiles he switches to the gunner's seat, breaking the lock, and TVs me. My understanding is seat-switching works to avoid lock-on in bomber jets as well, which I also can't understand the logic behind (well, the real-world logic maybe, but not the in-game logic). Hopefully that gets fixed somehow with the patch.

If they remove the no-lock on bug then quite frankly the only problem left are the people complaining about solo pilots in the first place

In pubs I'd like to see guys working as teams in helos, but I certainly understand the frustration that comes with having a gunner shooting machine gun rounds at tanks, apc's, hell, just about anything other than infantry or jeeps....

In match play we actually have a couple guys that can solo gun quite well. We have a 8v8 on Monday night thats on DagingOilfields16, so there's discussion about starting with 2 in the helo, then dropping 1 if needed on the ground, or if we're going to steal their helo...

This is the reason why i like dalian plant, chances are you will either get a good gunner/pilot or a chopper to yourself.

Against a good gunner, doing a barrel roll makes him more likely to miss, but chances are he will still get you on the first shot.

If they patch this out in 1.3 then i think i will quit the game. It's the best thing about BF2 IMO

                2)

Here's a better way. Fly high up into an enemy tank column, then start spinning the helicopter so your noob gunner thinks you're gonna crash and he bails. Then pull back and watch him get chewed up by the tanks.

sometimes you get persistent noobs who decide to learn how to use a TV guided missile in the middle of the game

                      Re: Solo-ing Attack Choppers

Well, they should only fix the lock-on bug (wasn't there a bug like this in BF:V?); the chopper already spins a lot when you switch seats so it's not that easy to do it.

Something else that should be fixed is the helo "auto spin", that's when people take the helo, bail out and it keeps spinning for a quite long time.

Actually, I only do the "trick" if the gunner is totally useless: You line him up against the enemy, he does nothing or keeps using the chaingun and you are killed, or fire all TV-M's and miss all of them (probably no idea on what is doing) - how can you miss a BH flying towards you?. Also because other people do it; as Pre 1.2 C4-Chucking, Claymores, Bunnyhopping, ... It would be unfair if I didn't.

HATEKILLL: Thanks for your constructive criticism.

                        Re: Solo-ing Attack Choppers

I'm a clan solo pilot, but will take gunners on publics when asked, or if they suck, go gun myself... (I am a chopper whore)

But just the other night, at the beginning of a round, I got one of those tank MGers when I gave him a lengthy lineup for tv...
We got shot down by that tank and the gunner blamed me for not moving faster when he respawned on the chopperpad...

I made a squad and invited him to ask him to tv next time and to explain howto, but he said that he thought that was too hard and that he was 'very good' with MG and that he had shot tanks before that way, if only I kept moving...

I said 'right...', got in first and switched to gunner so he could fly, but he refused to, saying he could not fly... I told him to try anyway, but he again refused...
I switched back to pilot and he quickly got back into the gunner seat...
This time, same story with a linebacker, MG from far away but no tv...
Third time, again with tank, while I was lining him up on the ground AA..
Forth time, MG on enemy chopper from far away...

He started shouting "if you can't fly, stay away from chopper" combined with other profanities and almost managed to tk me before I got in... He was sniper by now, but I was spinning as to not get shot...
He again got into the gunner seat, mowing wildly with mg shouting at me to get out and let someone else fly...

I left the squad and, this guy, I took out of bounds with great pleasure...

That was the 2nd time I did that, but I was soo annoyed...
(first time was months ago with a gunner who said he was goint to make some coffee and hence did nothing at all)

Anywayz, I only died once more that round and luckely, he wasn't there anymore...

Got my medal and went to bed...
(yeah I know, not that hard for a clan pilot)

I was solo'ing on Operation Smoke Screen with the MEC chopper, the game had not started and everytime the guy came at me in a chopper I took him out with the tv, did it like 6 times then he kept threatening to kick me because he was *training* then he started saying how am I so good if im a private (I made another account to mess around on but deleted it later) so then I said because I just made this and hes like ''you got your stats reset* so dumb.

ive been on the receiving end of being taken out of bounds, and i must say it ****ed me off really good. i understand where you are coming from bro, although i would never tk my gunner even if he sucked ballz, hairy ones at that.

As a very good gunner, and decent pilot, I gotta say I really do laugh at soloers. TVing them is easy as hell. And though it sounds like your not going to immediatley take some one out of bounds before they even have a chance to prove them selves as a decent gunner, give gunners a chance
or two before you do that, because there's NO WAY soloing is better having two decent people in a choper. even with the no lock on.

Because I had some one do it right at the begining of a round with out giving me a chance. At first I thought it was to pick up a buddy, but he kept soloing, so being on US on oman, I hopped in the phalanx, and procceded to make his repairs next to impossible with the chaingun, which proved that I did have decent aim, hell I think I tried to shoot a few missles past him. once he had realized that he wasn't going to survive soloing with me in phalanx he started picking people up, and then I stopped shooting at him.

So beware if you do out of bounds some one, with a AA peice, or even a buggy, they can TK you easily enough, or atleast make you always need repairs

I only have solo'd before a game starts just for fun, but its fun, if im in a populated game when the game starts then I will pick up a gunner, im the vice versa of you, very good pilot and a decent gunner, but I'd say im a good gunner now, I manage to rack up like 20-30 kills a round as the gunner, not by spraying all the troops but taking out attack helis and helis etc on Wake.
