    comander's questions

I have couple questions for comanders, that I didnt found on hints or other threads about commanders:

    1. Situation - our armor (tank or apc) at flag (our or oppsite) and lots of hostile infantry at same place.
Question - use artilery or no?

Artilery can destroy armor but AFAIK only with direct hit, right? So as I understand artilery should clean place from hostile infantry and our armor capture flag.

    2. Situation - main part of our team moves sequentialy from nearest flag to next one etc., but one squad infiltrates to farest base and start captures there.
Question - use support (arty, UAV, supplies) for main force or support that squad?

As I see it battle is won or lost by main force so support should be used to them, and that one lonely squad can be destroed with high possibility so wasting support. But I still don't feel right with that because that one squad obviouslly is most innitiative, intelligent squad with highest commbat abbilities so leave them without support don't seems "good, right"...

P.S. If those questions and answers will be constructive enough you may add them to commander's hints thread if you wish :)

If there is a lot of enemy infantry, i would recommend using the artillery. Apart from that, i never EVER use the artillery on veichles. Thats just a waste of good firepower. The tanks almost never get any damage from artillery.

But if there is sufficient amounts of enemy infantry around, i would use it.

I would have used my support on the farest base. Your main force can go over to defend for a few minutes, and they'll usually manage that long without getting any support. You should consider using the artillery jsut to buy some time, but placing it in front of the advancing enemys main force. Meanwhile, use UAV and support for the squad thats taking over the farest base. When this is captured, you can attack your enemy from both sides, something that seriously increases your chances of success.

Also, by capturing the farest base, you usually get close to the enemy commander assets. Blow them up at once, especially the UAV trailer.

They key to success on maps as wake island, is to hold the farest base (airfield). If the usmc holds this, they are almost guaranteed success.

1.Depends on how many enemy's and are they AT or not.
zoom in and check it if not AT just drop supply crate, if allot of AT guys around the tank then I would drop arty, because he has almost no change then.

      2. I would support the squad trying to get the back flag, mostly they would go for the enemy's main or the nearby flag where the rest of the team could spawn.

P.s. if the squads are apart from eachother use the scan as much as possible, or zoom in above a squad that is capping/defending an important flag and spot enemys for them.

        nice post......

        As far as your questions..

#1 - Arty, even if it doesn't take out that tank has a good chance to hurt it, and if there's enough infantry around to merit the blast then off you go. I use arty about as often as I can, but I am selective in dropping it. I'll use Karkand as an example - if I see a US squad flanking to the Suburb I'll drop it there before they get there, to time it so that I catch them mid-cap. I usually won't drop it @ the hotel, since the lemmings on both sides tend to gather there and you're looking at TK's. If I have nowhere reasonable to drop it, then on their main it goes

#2. If I had scan available, just finished one, I'd have a better idea of where the enemy is concentrated. If they're starting to spawn near the back flag then that group would get the support. However, if they're alone I'd probably drop UAV near the action, and use my scan to "spot" enemies near the back team. Remember, scanning & spotting is damn near as good as UAV, and it gives you the ability to warn teammates all over the map. Playing in a VoIP enabled server helps too, so that you can verbally warn a group that might not have UAV over them, but you have spotted enemies for them..

Use the Artillery, the Tank will hear it coming and move. Use your assets to ID position of enemy Infantry around the flag. Call up your own infantry support (unless they are too busy stat padding )

I would agree as to the use of UAV and Scan to clarify the threats facing each team. However the flag furthest in the enemies rear is the bigest pain for them. A diversion of resources and time. This might weak the "frontline" defense enough for your main force to steamroll the enemy.

          Karkand The Suburbs.
Our squad infiltrated the suburb and took the flag. The enemy diverted armor, infantry and artillery in an attempt to retake the flag(this probably also included UAV or Scan). We barley held on but, both the Hotel and Sqaure were taken becuase of our stubborness.

I have to disagree slightly. If there is enough infantry around, then go ahead. But there is far from a slight chance of getting hurt while being in a tank/apc during an artillery barrage. I almost never take any hits that are near to hurt me more than one or perhaps two dots (5-10% health), which is close to what a frag grenade does when it comes to damage.

Unless there is at least three infantry in the region, its a waste of a good asset. Only thing you might use it for is to make some cover to allow one of your squads to sneak up on the enemy without being noticed.

              Unfortunatelly, yeasturday happened something bad
There was our tank at enemy flag and about 5-7 infantry around him (no other our troops near), so I thought that arty most probably will not harm tank launched artilery at that flag... I am not sure how many infantries was destroed but... our tank disapeared... Couple moments after that some very very diaspointed teammember wrote some not quite good words in chat He didnt meantioned any name so I can't be sure that that was addressed to me but words he used and using of CAPS was appropriate for that level of diaspointment when you are destroed in tank by your team's artilery

                Re: comander's questions

I tend to drop Artillery on an enemy APC / Tank but only if there's a supply drop near it. This way you'll destroy the supply drop so the Armor cannot repair.

IMO you must calculate. MEC APC in front of Hotel with a supply drop near can cost you more tickets than dropping artillery on the enemy infantry when your infantry moves to that position. Rather UAV / ScanSpot them.

                As for #1
UAV+Artillery. I'd also drop supplies a bit back so the Tank not only gets the Artillery warning but backs up for repairs as well.

                As for #2
Really depends on the opposing force. If there's only 1-2 enemy peons near the back flag I spot them only and give support to where the main action is. But mostly I end up putting UAV for the back flag Squad - these are the guys that usually win the game - they get my full support.

                  Haha, nice one .

I've never experienced that myself (not since pre 1.2 patch), a tank blowing up from an artillery strike. Of course it makes sense, but still. But i still wouldn't put my money on it when there are better places to put it.

The tricky decision is do you fire the artillery on the clustered enemy at a contested flag, or do you artillery the flag where a lone enemy is moving to take it? The former saps a good amount of enemy tickets and may shift the balance in your team's favor for that flag. The latter prevents another enemy spawn point and maintains your team's current base count. Either way, it's 30 seconds until you can correct your decision.

                      Re: comander's questions

On item #1, I'd probably arty if "a lot" is 4 or more enemy. The key in placing arty strikes is trying to assess how the picture you're looking at on your Commander's screen will look in ~ 15 seconds...which is how long it's going to take for the strike to hit. I'm constantly scanning and, when it's ready, will put the arty strike where it has the best chance to help the team at that point in time.

On #2, it depends. Again, you've got to scan continuously to get a feel for how the enemy's defenses are laid out. Where you place the UAV at any given time is where your team needs it the most. In this circumstance, I'd probably go with putting the UAV on the separate squad. However, if I'd just done a scan and saw that remote CP was lightly defended I'd probably put the UAV elsewhere and simply "spot" the few enemy for the remote squad.

I remember being the US commander in Karkand, and the arty really was butchering the enemy squad, especially at Train Accident. Once the US took that, there was some long range exchanges taking place betweek our forces on the west bank of the river and the MEC were all clustered in one big group at the east bank.

When you take out about 6 enemy with each artillery strike it helps. :)

                          1. I wouldn't question using the arty in this case. There is a big chance that your armor will survive the arty, and even if it doesn't , what's one teamkill along with 10 enemy kills.
                          2. Run UAV on either one of your squads, and keep spotting the enemies where the other squad is at. Drop supply to whoever needs it more.
