Advice for rubbish newbie pls!

Hi

I used to play BF1942 alot and was really good at it but i am terrible at BF2. I can't seem to kill many and i get killed hell of alot. What is the best way to get better:

Practice on single player?
Practice on a server with just me?
Practice in multiplayer? (and risk annoying my team)
Give up - haha pls dont say this one!

Any other advice would be much appreciated. I just spent £160 updating my graphics card to play this and i would like to get alot better at it.

just dont use the chopper/tanls apcs if you dont know what your doing with them or where your going, just run around as infy youll get the idear..its not that far off from 1942

The best way is to play in multplayer games.. but there will be a chance that you will annoy your team.. Singleplayer are just bots they don't reacte instinctively or human.. But you can aim at bots for practice if that's your goal? But for teamwork etc. multiplayer is best so my advice is go on a server with some people you know 'r something and just play..

And the best is! Don't steal vehicles like choppers/tanks/planes/jeeps

Practice infantry fighting in multiplayer, practice vehicles(helo's, jets etc.) in singleplayer.

Single player if you're looking to fly / etc... get to know the vehicles before you plow a fully loaded BH into a hillside on-line.

For basic killing / etc... MP is the way to go. Playing the infantry maps (Karkand, Sharqi, Mashtur) will give you plenty of chances to shoot / kill / die.. Just remember, head = 3x damage, so always aim for their face....

You can practice your aim on bots though for infantry as well. Remember coming from a BF vet, BF2 seems to have a steep learning curve so don't expect to jump from 42 into BF2 and you will own, practice makes perfect, even if its single player! Playing on our server won't be a good start but may be a good learning experience being in the right squad, but it will be a reality check to see if you have what it takes!

Single player is good to get a feel for all the equipment without worrying about being taken out before you can say "Bad guy!" Get used to working the weapons, vehicles and such so that you are at bare minimum competent with them.

Once you know what you are meant to do then it makes it easier to get better against players - I'm no hot shot mind, but I do alright. If you want someone to play with if you go online for squading up and are in UK/Europe I can help, just send me a private message - me and my cousin often play together and are always looking for more players.

Don't give up, the game has been out nearly 11 months and many people have played waaaay too many hours (I'm at 110, which compared to many folks is nothing!) and just keep playing.

I'd say play single player until you can beat the bots easily (which HOPEFULLY won't take long).

Don't spend too much time on single player because they are only 16 player map sizes..so you don't want to get used to where things are. Things will appear different on 32 and 64 player size maps.

Then load up some 64 player maps as an empty local server. Spawn at each starting spawn point and learn where the vehicles are and what type of vehicles spawn. Check your minimap and you'll see the locations of stationary weapon emplacements (AT turrets, AA turrets, machine guns). Learn those if you can, they can be useful because sometimes they are rarely used.

Then, once you think you know a thing or two about the starting spawn locations of a few maps, start playing multiplayer and join a 4/6 or 5/6 squad. Try to follow their lead and have fun!



It takes a LOT of practice but ANYBODY starting BF2 now will feel like they are getting spanked at first...your opponents have a year's worth of practice on you. But stick with it

I suggest land vehicle whoring for a while. Best way to stay protected other than hiding out as commander an entire round. Just make sure to keep your head on a swivel when in a vehicle, or on foot, for that matter.

In general, take caution when moving about. It's easy to get caught up in just running about, but that also makes it easier to die.

Perhaps, be a medic, join a squad, and then follow them, making sure that they eat the lead before you do.

Best advice in here so far was to Join a squad. This way you will see the routes and actions others take that are better than you and will find you stay alive more.

I´m new at BF2 as well,and i´m also not very good at it, BUT "practice makes perfect".

I get killed an awful lot too, because i always keep running headlong into the action without thinking what i´m doing and then getting blown to smithereens, so what i now do is wait a few seconds and watch where everyone else goes, and then flank the enemy, i find by doing this i stay alive a lot longer.

i spent my first 2 weeks playing SP
Then flirted with some maps b4 finding out karkand is best infantry shoot em up map there is...( for me )
If later on your worried about stats you can creat a new acc once you've learnt how to score some points.
Go public multi player and learn everything.....And ignor the "KEEP OUT CHOPPERS IF YOU CANT USE THEM" brigade.

Look for full unranked servers with plenty of players. If they have a strange name and are not community servers, they're most likely cracked and full of first timer newbies. That's how I started to play. Playing demo ain't a bad idea either.
