I bought the logitech G5 laser mouse a while ago and I like it more than my stanards mouse. One thing that I saw alot of when I was reading the reviews for the mouse was people complaining that the mouse wheel was too hard to turn and that it was also hard to click as a button.
I took mine out of the box and thought, "Are these people crazy? This thing works fine." Then I put in the little weights tray that comes with it and, viola the mouse wheel is crap. Well being the curious guy that I am, I wanted to figure out why and it really wasn't that hard.
When you slide the weight tray in, it is at an angle. The upper most corner of the tray it just barely hitting the mouse wheel making it hard to click or turn. I simply removed the tray and used a fingernail file to grind it down alittle. Just file down about a 1/2 inch wide strip right in the middle and you should be fine. Mine was less than 1/4 inch deep and now the mouse works great.

On a side note, I like using huge mouse pads but the stores try to rip you off by calling it a specialty item and charging a rediculous mark-up. I went to some discount store (not going to say the "W" word) and saw the padded chair mats that people put of their lawn chairs. It is really cheap and works great as a alternative mouse pad. Its big, the fabric reflects the laser well and it is cushioned so I put my whole forearm on it and I never get wrist cramps.
