    Battlecraft mod recruiting

    Hi all modders!

As the subject says we at Bluelime want to make a Starcraft Mod for the upcoming Battlefield 2142.

I'm sure that all the people who have played Starcraft thought of, how it would be to be on the ground fighting along side your fellow marines, trying to take out the zerg charging against your position.
Or beeing the honorable protoss avenging Aiur and chopping some zerg with the psi-blades.

This is our team's dream and would love to make it happen.
We are having a site being created this instant, but we dont know when it will be up.

We've chosen that it should be for BF2142 because it has some cool options like: Cloaking, mechs, the Titan mode etc.
Then we would also have enough time to make the models and map designs before the game is out, and make the mod available as soon as possible.

    We are currently looking for:
Moddelers, mostly some who are good at living objects like Humans, Zerg and Protoss, we also need Weapon moddelers and static object moddelers.
Textureres/skinners, we need someone to texture our buildings, weapons and so on.
    Animators
    Coders

    Thank you for Reading.

PM me or post here or write me an email if you are interested and would like to know more.

Yip, note of warning: CHANCE YOUR MODS NAME!

When you make a mod based on another game you can not use the games name or and names specific to that game otherwise you get a Cease and Desist order from the company your technicly stealing from.

Yes, we are aware of this.
We have contacted Blizzard asking what to do, and we were told read the legal faq: http://www.battle.net/legalfaq.shtml
There is no specific thing about making a mod for the copyrighted game.
All though to avoid ****ing off blizzard, we will rename the mod.
The mod name will be Battle Craft.
Is an moderater who can change the subject or something`?

Dont forget that those copyright issues will carry over to unit and weapon names as well as faction names if indeed your mod is "based" on startcraft.

I cant help but feel a little worried for you though. Many many others have attempted to make a startcraft mod and ALL afaik have been shutdown... its your call

                Hehe thx dude.
Luckely they cant do anything about the word "Terran" because its latin and means earthlings, or some like that. And the fact that the building is a bunker (for example) and belong to the Terrans, so it would be Terran bunker. :)
We will be a little careful though and might call the Zerg "Berg" or something simular instead hehe.

                  Re: Battlecraft mod recruiting

well actually, just because a word is latin doesn't mean you can use it its all about context - If they used the name "terran" to describe a faction in their game and then you called a faction "terran" that looked similar to their faction in a similar setting that would be a breach of copyright. You may want to do a bit of research on this subject before going to far into this project... because i have a feeling i have seen this situation before... If your "terran" equipment and buildings were 30% different (general rule of thumb for design copyright) and named 30% differently THEN you would have no problems, but at this stage it looks as though you want to mimic 100% and hope you can get around content copyright through the actual mod name - which doesnt affect content

                  good luck?
