Sorry if this has been posted before. I have searched the forums and keep coming up empty handed. Please keep in mind that I just started playing multiplayer mode about 2 weeks ago. So, I still suffer from severe noobietitis!

Question #1 How do I change my name or am I stuck with my log-in name?

Question #2 Is there a legend that explains what all the little Icons mean when you look at the score at the end of a round? I understand some of them (the trophy icon is for global points) but I am no sure what some of the others mean.

Question # 3 Are there any netcode setting changes that are a must to help your shots register? (I play Counter-Strike and know how much these settings can make a difference. Such as refresh-rates, update rates and cmd rates).

Simple and to the point -

1 - You cannot change your name. The username you pick is made permanent, and only one email can be used per name, so to change, you would need to create a fresh account with another email.

2 - Just off memory: The Sniper icon (+) is kills, The skull is deaths, and the Square icon that is made up of 4 pictures represents team points, which you get off of flag caps, medic revies, heals, repairs, ect. ect.

3 - None at all. BF2 is not as easy to manipulate as CS and its counterparts are..

Just an update on #3 D|sso handled #1 and #2.

#3 make sure in your in-game options you change it from LAN to DSL. You can also adjust your latency compensation to match whatever you are pinging to a server. 1st join a server and check your ping (obviously hitting tab to show the score screen you can see your ping)

Then you can enter into the console (enter the console by hitting the tilde key ~) type in SettingsManager.floatSet GSDefaultLatencyCompensation 0.100000 (where .1 is the standard setting and 0.1 equats to a ping of 100ms) This can also be entered into the usersettings.con file (in Battlefield2/mods/bf2/settings)to make it a permanent change so if you play on your favourite server it will always be set for your ping. If you change servers you will need to change this setting to match your ping.

If you have a ping of say 50ms change the figure to 0.05, if its 75ms then it would be 0.075 (get the picture?)

wat does this really do? and what if ur ping isnt like stable cuz sometimes i get spikes into the 400s and then back to like 30

Yeah, I'm also wondering about that command. Anyone care to explain what exactly latency compensation is?
