Bullet deviation? Bullet spread? Bullet retardation?

Ok..so how the heck does this work and why and also how the heck do you overcome it.

Heres the situation...enemy is in your crosshairs, a considerable distance..nothign extreme or sniperish..but still not CQC.
So you precede to fire a few shots, of course the first few or at least the second and third hit, but then as you notice the spread, deviation or what ever is effectign them hitting you lay off and let the gun settle..but now no matter what the situation the bullets will not land..wtf..
You havent moved an inch, crosshairs in the same position, enemy same position and yet..nope every shot is 3 miles into oblivion..

Now yes this happens sometimes but the kicker is some rounds I being the PKM whore I am can snipe with the sucker for a whole round, yet next roudn the gun goes " F you buddy, I aint hitting $hit this round"

My biggest offenders are the PKM, L85, and AK-101..now the champs of never missing are of course the G series (36C and E) these guns never let you down..

Ive accountanted for lag and cant find it a solution since I notice it happens on very low ping servers just as easy..Im come to the conclusion that soemtimes the code for spread, deviation, retardation is in your favor or against you..a roll of the dice..

This site contains all the facts about deviation, accuracy, retardation (what?) and almost everything you want or dont want to know about every gun in the game.

For an instance, did you know that the pistols, sniper rifles and shotguns have the same accuracy whether you're standing, crouching or lying down?

well as you may or maynot no,deviation increases depending how long you are firing, the weapon itself (pkm medium accuracy) also pkm wont hit jack unless prone,

as for the G series of guns they have high accuracy hence would perform better in certain situations.

as i play sniper i give a few seconds between shots to give my self maximum accuracy, this helps me alot.

try firing in burst's but after a burst give it a second before firing again.

i no pkm expert but i found when using this method i hit alot more then firing for say 2 seconds at a time.

there is a chart somewhere on this forum i belive that shows the deviation of each weapon,in standing ,croutch, prone ect this may give you more detail info on what you are looking for.

sorry i could not help more.

Exactly, aiming in the game seems to be dumbed down a lot, taking careful aim is rarely worthwhile except with a sniper rifle, because deviation is such a huge factor in whether you hit somebody compared to your aim.

This should help you. Look at the weapons you like to use and study their deviaton while standing, crouching, deviation per shot, etc. The PKM has very little deviation per shot, since it's only .1. So really it depends on the weapon you are using. As for randomness, I never see that, I always use 3 bursts and it settles each time.

the AK-101 is dead accurate, the G36E is is dead accurate, the PKM is is dead accurate, the L96 is dead accurate, the mp7 is is dead accurate what do you want????

Re: Bullet deviation? Bullet spread? Bullet retardation?

Thanks guys but I understand the whole lettign the gun settle and bursting and such..
It just does anyone ever get the situation when no matter what your bullets will not hit, even if you were hitting the still enemy seconds before even letting the gun settle and havign the enemy in the same position and your crosshairs the bullets refuse to hit again.

I explained this the other day about how it happened with the L85.
I had a sniper lined up, his head was hidden but i had the other 90% of his body to hit. I put him in my crosshairs and did a burst, a few bullets hit but not enough to kill him.
He didnt move, nor did I..but no matter any burst or even me in desperation/frustration going fully auto and spendign my clip..they wouldnt hit. We both didnt move, I fired in burst, I let the gun settle for 2-3 seconds..everything. I was just like the bullets said "nope not gonna land"
This same effect happens with the PKM to.
You can have a still target fire a burst and it will hit, after that no burst nor a full auto assualt will land even if no changes have been made to the enemies position or his position in your sights..its as if the first bullet from future burst are experienceing deviation of bullet number 20..yet the gun has settled, cross hairs retightened and 2-3 seconds between burst attemps have occured.

[sarcasm] it's just EA's way of making it "fun". There's nothing wrong. [/sarcasm]

Did you know that the min.deviation for the M95 is 5.0.

You must not be looking at the chart right because all of those have different accuracy in different positions (except the Saiga 12k). Shotguns have very small difference and usually no diff between standing and crouching but the sniper rifles have a huge difference between stances. Only the LMGs have a wider range of stance modifiers.

Re: Bullet deviation? Bullet spread? Bullet retardation?

It always gets me how going prone or crouching with a shotgun will somehow make the spread of a buckshot round tighter. :p

And yes, PKM (the poster, not the gun, heh), I know exactly what you mean and I get the same offenders as you do, primarily the L85 and the AK101. The AK47 as well, although I don't get many chances to use that since on Chinese maps I'm usually AT or engineer. I've had times where I can prone and sight with the 101 and it's BOOM HEADSHOT!!!, and then the next round I can time my shots at targets that aren't even moving and I'll go through 30 single shots to get the kill. That's the 'beauty' of random deviation, that many times luck is just as big a factor as skill. It's DICE's way of keeping the game newbie friendly, instead of letting people who are l33t at CS dominate the infantry combat. If you're a newbie, you probably think random deviation is great (or you haven't yet realised how many times it's saved your bacon ), and if you've played for a long time you probably think it sucks. Yeah, I've had times where the M4, even, is like the Hand of God, and other times where I can single-shot or two round burst and not hit someone 10 feet away. It make me wonder just how 'random' it is or if there are times that the game just up and says to you, 'Nope, sorry buddy. No killing for you this round. Try again next round.' and hands you a rain check for the 10 kills you should by all means have gotten but didn't.

And one reason for the L85 being such a big offender is it's massive deviation added per shot. That gun is okay on single-shot, but burst fire at medium range? Forget it. You're better off throwing the bullets (or hell, maybe even the gun) at the enemy. That's why when I see someone 30m away firing full auto with their L85 and they nail me with four quick shots (I see my health go down in four intervals), rather than saying to myself, 'Damn, this guy's good!' I instead utter, 'You lucky son of a mother!!!'

Seriously, on Mashtuur about a week or so ago, I see this AT trooper on the side of the hill near the Hill firing away at a tank coming up the road, so I, being about 15m away from him, stop, crouch, pull up the ironsights, switch to single shot mode, give the gun about a second to 'settle', and let go with a couple of single-shots aimed at his head. The first two hit, although obviously not his head, and anything else I shot at him would...not...LAND. As the soldier turns and faces me, I quicken the pace to two and three-round bursts aimed at his chest. He makes no effort to avoid my shots by way of dolphin diving or proning so I can't blame that. Finally when he's about 10m away I go full-auto in desparation. After 30 rounds are gone (started this little feud with a full clip), I switch to the pistol and end up getting DAOed. I should NOT have lost that fight, but BF2 just gave me and my AK101 the virtual middle finger and said, 'Sorry pal, but it's your turn to die.'

Yet other times I can see a sniper as a small grey dot on the other side of the map (exaggerating, of course) and I can drop him with one lousy bullet from the exact same gun. Go figure.
