FYI:
Less than a month ago it was more like .5 KDR for infantry (due to running into the action reviving and stuff). My assault rifle KDR was .38 3 weeks ago, now it's .68. Quite a difference eh? In 2 days of playing kills got up.

(nearly) Every round I play now I usualy get a KDR on foot of 1.5+ and a round score of 40+ (with 13-minute rounds that gives me a SPM of 3). Nearly all of these "bad" stats I got in the begining. Around march of this year just about everything improved.

Also I don't play support that much at all (only played a little after 1.2).

Man... I used to NEVER think there were cheaters/hackers...

But the stuff he explained has been happening alot.

I know most of it could be due to lag, (I normally get ~30 ping though..) but I can sit behind a guy that is prone, UNLOAD on him at like 1 meter with an AK-101... watch ALL of the shots connect (I see the smoke + hit detection) only to have him turn around and pop me in the head once and kill me.

And then we've got the people that use that dolphin diving thing... god **** that is annoying...

My friend last night said he got killed by a nade that was at least 20 ft away, and I was like huh?? And then about 2 min. later, the same thing happened to me.

I really am starting to suspect more cheaters... But I never accuse someone of hacking.. I just think that in my head.

Also I wouldn't think about it so much if the netcode hadn't been so bad. On most cases I start firing before them and see clientside and serverside hit-detection. Still they manage to kill me first.

Played a few more rounds. Went a lot better now. Now the hit-detection were much better. Don't know exactly why there is so huge differences in the hit-detection for me. Either it works or it doesn't.

heh ! . I Feel sorry for the hackers, there so crap at playing a game they spend months learning to program to make a hack ... or waste £20 on a hack

One thing that seems odd is that I have a stable low ping of 14-16 and have more problems than anyone else on the server. Even those with a ping of 100+.

Ping isn't the end all/be all of net connection measurements.
Unfortunatly, the browser doesn't track or display Packet Loss.
PL causes more oddities than anything else. If a server is on a "noisy" line, it's way more likely to lose communications packets. This can cause anything from non-reg shots, to getting hit but not taking damage for a few seconds, to be warped around the field.

I get pretty paranoid about this hacking business, but I try to calm myself down and think logically.

If a guy seems to know exactly where you are when he comes round the corner, yeah it could be a wallhack, but then a could be an enemy UAV or commander/other soldier spotting you, or just bad luck. Most of the time, people are just "in the zone" like Troybob said, they're having a great round, simple as that. I'm sure we've all had our moments where we're playing exceptionally well, but it's hard to perform at that level every round.

Edit: If you could spectate people in first-person perspective then life would be a lot easier identifying hackers. I found the "Death Cam" in Call of Duty to be an awesome tool for people to spot hacks.

When i play on server with 20- ping i get two shoot kills from any gun at any distance....with any other server i have to shoot a whole clip and hope i hit the other guy...but end up dying first if they saw me first

Go watch some TV or mow your lawn to clear your head, come back, and play again.

Yes, if they're doing it round after round then the best thing to do is join their team and spectate them. But it is still pretty hard to get solid evidence on a guy from a third person perspective.

Don't get me wrong, there has been many times I've been convinced that a player is hacking, but there just aint a lot you can do about it. The best thing is to try and find a good well admined server, get to know the admins and regulars, then report to them anything out of the ordinary on their website or mIRC.

No easy answer on this topic. Also, I feel like the situation is similar to the boy who cryed wolf. Too many people just throw around the claim that [player] is a hacker just as a sort-of insult.

The other day I found a couple guys by the USMC arty at Mastaur so I went over.
The was 2 friendlies and a USMC guy.
EDIT: other friendly died after they stopped reviving him when I started to chuck grenades
So I chucked a grenage at the USMC guy who then kills me.
I then get killed and revived about 14 times.
I managed to hope a way a couple times but they kept getting me.
Then a friendly came and chucked grenades at them and I respawned else where.
The statpadders names were KidNap(prefix i believe) Nexar (reviver) and Death_Row_4 (i think).
I think it happened on the Raging Rebels server too


There was also a commander the other day who got an insane amount of near instant kills but he probably was using scan. I know that he didn't use a UAV because I didn't see it flying ahead.

I've only really noticed (blatantly) cheats/hackers twice in BF2 (but there must be a lot more I've not noticed). Both of them were respawn hacks. The first was at the hotel in Karkand, I shot this enemy player and within 4-5 seconds he had re-spawned and killed me (happened right infront of my eyes). The second was at the TV Station on Sharqi. I had just greyed out the flag when a sniper rushes in a drops a Claymore right next to me. I mow him down with my PKM and just concentrate on changing the flag and not moving. He suddenly re-appears (after about 3-4 seconds) right infront of me again (the flag still greyed out and a UAV flying overhead).
