    Crashing After BF2 Screen Loads

I havent played this game for awhile and when I tried to play the other day, system crashed and got blue screen. I've tried new Nvidia drivers and even down clocked my system. It crashes right in the beginning after the BF2 screen loads. I've read the different crash posts but couldnt find any relevant to my deal. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

On further, I get the BSOD that says IRQL error. Weird that this is the only game that I'm having a problem w/.

      Try deleting the following directory:

      ..\My Documents\Battlefield 2

Doing so will remove all settings including graphics options, audio options, control configurations. It also contains your sceenshots, so if you wanna keep those, put them somewhere.

You will have to 'retrieve' your account the next time you run BF2, but your account will be just as you left it...nothing is deleted. Just make sure you know your username and password.

If you are concerned, then back up the contents of this directory somewhere before you delete it.

Have you installed any new hardware or software since you last ran BF2 successfully?

I'm sure I've added new hardware since I've played but cant remember what LOL. Like most of us I'm always upgrading. I haven't played BF2 in like 8 months so don't know what happened since then. I've tried deleting that directory already but no luck. If I have viruses or other driver problems, why would BF2 be the only game thats crashing on me? Thanks for the suggestion.

Ok, I did a whole new reinstall and deleted all BF2 files. Was excited when I got all the way to map loading screen. Half way thru map load I got the dreaded audio squelch then BSOD. Says windows stop device driver problem. I look into hyperthreading issue.

What driver was listed during the BSOD?

Maybe you need to update audio and motherboard drivers.

Unfortunately "Driver IRQL Not Less Or Equal" almost always means a hardwarde issue; either some settings are incorrect or the actual hardware is malfunctioning. The real problem is that there's no way to pinpoint which piece of hardware it's refering to, at least that I know of." [posted by Jofaba]

Have you fixed your problem? I'm in the same boat, and looking for a fix other than reinstalling windows
