Premier has problems with VBR MP3s?

I posted my first in a series of test videos up not to long ago. When I made that video my audio came out sounding fine in the video.

I started on my second test video today and chose a song that I had planned on using. It sounded perfect in iTunes (168kbps VBR), with no skips at all. I put it in Premier and every 10-15 seconds or so the song has a minor skip. I had thought it might be that my computer is having problems with the massive program (though I have a fairly strong computer) but it A) produced skips in the same spots every time so it wasnt random like a "bogged" down computer would, B) When I put video in it still skipped in the same spots and C) after I rendered a part of it to see if it would show up there as well, it still had the skips in the same spot.

Now I understand that sometimes Premier has issues with producing skips in music so now Im wondering if purhaps its an issue with VBR only, just with certain tracks, or completely randomly. I tried importing the video a few times and every time it had skips in it in the same places. Any thoughts or experience with this problem? Better yet any way of fixing it?

Luckily the song was a bit to fast paced for the material I had and didnt "feel" right so Im not down over having to start over. I just dont want to repeat the same mistake twice =D

try converting it into a .wav or something, then import it and see if you get the same results..

Edit: I just tested a vbr file with my premiere and it works fine..
What version of premiere do you have?

If you have the same version as me then im just going to blame itunes on this one, so try converting it into .wav
