Well it looks like it's a very common problem. I have a ATI Radeon 9600/9700 series and when I open BF2, the screen will turn black for a moment, sometimes switch to a smaller resolution for a moment, and then crach straight back to the desktop. I've been playing all day with the video card, graphics, and driver.
Normally I assume I'd be able to just look at how other people dealt with the problem but it seems that everyone's computer is slightly different from the others.
BTW I have not yet been able to successfully load BF2 since I've gotten the game.
I'll attach the DxDiag file. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to try reinstalling the game and maybe reinstalling the drivers for now.
