The latest is usually a good start. If not, try some 3rd party audigy drivers. You'll have to google for em. Sorry.

Have you tried using the OpenAL file replacement trick?

Download and run the latest OpenAL installer:

Then copy the file OpenAL32.dll from c:\windows\system and copy it to your Battlefield 2 install directory and rename it to BF2OpenAL.dll and overwrite the file of that same name.

Thats for audigy too? I thought that was mainly a Xfi problem. We've been griping out creative for how many months now? :)

Yeah, the fix was originally geared towards Audigy 2 users.

well, I heard the audigy 2 just isnt powerful enough to do hardware mode + keep a steady framerate... sorry. either lose 20fps or go software+high settings.

as for the x-fi... I dont get it what is the problem with it? my x-fu is F-ing awesome!! I know some people here with crabs in their ass feel that since they didnt GAIN fps and only kept the SAME framerate, that the x-fi sucks. but listen up:
sound cards arent supposed to be used to boost fps, they are used for sound quality. now.... if you used the x-fi at hardware mode, and another at hardwaer.. you will get more FPS with the x-fi. but the x-fi runs in Ultra mode with NO framrate loss. its about SOUND QUALITY and constantness of frames. I feel that I still get my same good FPS as always, and my sound it 20x better.

                You misheard. :)

The Audigy 2ZS is more than adequate enough to run BF2 at high/hardware sound settings and have a good steady FPS.

RelikpL my drivers are version 5.12.8.1164, dated 12 Dec 05. Also install the OpenAL beta fix. Both available from the Creative support site.

Sacky, for some reason, the open AL fix was to adress people LOSING FPS with their X-FI. Alot of people noticed that they were losing 10-40 fps with using their xfi with out that fix. I can understand not gaining FPS, but losing? :)
