Ive just been reading this artical about BF2124 and the bit about unlocks caught my eye.

The year is 2142, and the dawn of a new Ice age has thrown the world into a panic. The math is simple and brutal: The soil not covered by ice can only feed a fraction of the Earth's population. Some will live, most will die. In Battlefield 2142, players will choose to fight for one of two military superpowers in an epic battle for survival, the European Union or the newly formed Pan Asian Coalition. Armed with a devastating arsenal of hi-tech assault rifles, cloaking devices and sentry guns, players will also do battle using some of the most imposing vehicles known to man. Massive battle Mechs wage fierce combat on the ground, while futuristic aircraft rule the skies. When facing one of these new behemoths, players will need to use their wits and an arsenal of new countermeasures like EMP grenades to level the playing field.

With in-game success, players increase their rank and unlock awards, including new weapons, medals and more, delivering the most comprehensive and flexible persistence in the Battlefield universe to date.

# Titan Mode: Wage epic-scale war to defeat your opponent's Titan, a massive flying warship, controlled by the team's commander. Players must destroy the Titan's shields, board the craft, fight to it's reactor core and detonate it from the inside – all while defending their own Titan.

Look at the bit that's underlined and in bold if that's right and we do get five times more unlocks than BF2 that's means were going to get 35 unlocks or 70 if there talking about the sf unlocks as well (they are included in BF2).

Now something is going on here i remember an interview from about 3 or 4 months ago by someone from totalbf2 and someone from Dice it was featured on the front page of this website (I'm going to search through the news forum now and see if i can find the quote i'm looking for.) . In that interview the question was asked will BF2 get anymore more unlocks. The reply from the representative from Dice was no because unlocks are held in your ram and adding anymore unlocks would need lots more ram to run the game.

So someones lying somewhere EA/Dice have just been caught contradicting themselves either they can add more unlocks or they cant. Or the systems requirements for BF2124 are going to be much higher than BF2 Or its going to be the same crap as BF2 there going to say all sorts of things are going to be in the game and come the release a fraction of the things they advertise are going to be included.

rofl 70 unlocks, imagine selecting your weapon from the menu you would be clicking constantly to find the weapon you want.

I don't think they mean 70 actual new weapons to unlock, but probably 30 weapons, 20 abilities, and the rest are probably accessories. I remember reading about laser scopes, and other weapon attachements that were part of the unlocks.

Frazz I don't think so, with the geometry setting at medium, the game doesn't render weapons if the players are further than a block away.

There will be some squad only unlocks too... If you are in a squad you can use them, if you're not well then you don't. I like that they are gearing towards teamplay. Maybe some minor mistakes in BF2 is why they are heading this route, let's hope they do this with BF2 in a patch... Not sure what a squad based unlock'd be but I'm sure it'll be cool.

Im not sure if were even going to get another patch after 1.3 maybe a couple of hotfix patches but i cant see out else being added there arnt going to be anymore booster or xpacks from what ive heard so theres no money init for them.

They did the same with 1942 and Vietnam so 2 is gonna' eventually be unpatchable, naysayers need not apply :).
