problems connecting

I've just installed a new modem and tried to play bf2 on multi-player but when I click multiplayer, it says updating server list but nothing comes up...

I can click on favourites and play a game there but not any servers from multiplayer..

I am totally confused. Can anybody shed any light on this please...

what filters do you have on

new modem or new router ???

if router make sure the right ports are open for it

It is a router.. How do I know what ports i need to open..
