Need some tips

Hi guys, not a noob here, been playing BF2 for a LONG time and need some help. When i started i hated plane maps cause i couldnt fly lol, so i eventually learned on wake and played that map most of the time. Today i tried Gulf of Oman ( i played it a while back but never flew)

So here is where i need help, the plane with the guided missles, i need some tips on how to use it. Its not like the chopper missle and that thrw me off. There is no real time to guide it as you fly by ... do you just click on en enemy and hope for the best? Iv only killed 1 person with it and i donno how lol.

Now is it possible to kill planes with it and does it distinguish between friendlies like the bombs?

1. Always look forward becouse your pilot is probably about to bomb a target he is tarcking.
2. The target should stay in the target box for welll like 3 seconds and you get a lock on it.
3. As soon as you heaer the lock shoot!!

Random shooting is useful when you fly low.

o so you see the lil circle, than you need to bring the mouse over it for a few secs and it locks on .. didnt know that. Thanks

thought it worked like the chopper missle lol.... without lock.

1 more question, you cant take planes down with it right?

I have shot down another plane with the bomber missile once.

It is insanely hard, and you have to guide it yourself.

Yea, but be careful because it is not always an enemy. If you shoot before the guy says he is locked on it will most likely be a team kill. With this next patch being released, EA is once again making it easier than ever for you to make sure you don't hit friendlies. Another example of dumbing down the game to a new level.

You can take down planes with the missiles on the bombers, but it's hard to get a hit on them...

You can fire the missile before you get a lock too (if your pilot is constantly turning instead of flying straight and level for you) and it'll go wherever your screen is looking, but you probably won't hit much that way unless you're at low altitude and firing into a group of targets.
