secondary unlocks

can someone tell me what rank you have to be to get secondary unlocks like the L96, thanks.

For some reason I was able to unlock secondary ones right away. I'd get two unlocks so my first where both the Special Forces.

ok to get secondary unlocks you need special forces, but i belive you can unlock these 2 secondary unlocks without having (sf) the P90 anti tank, and the L96. all that is required is the othe unlocks for these kits 1st

so to get the L96 you must have the M95 unlocked and have 1 free unlock to use (which you will get at your next rank)

This is true! BF2 unlocks in steps. You must first unlock the orignial unlock weapons (the M95 ) to then have the next option to unlock the next set of newer unlock weapons (the L96). In any case it will cost you 2 unlocks to get from the basic weapon in your class to the second tier unlocks!

If anyone knows any different please let me know because I really want to unlock the SCAR-L but it is not available since I did not unlock the G36C first!

i have to disagree due to i had the m95 unlocked and when patch 1.2 came out there were 2 unlocks given for free,yet i could not chose the l96,so i went out and got sf pack and was given 5 unlocks and the option to chose the l96 became avalible.

To unlock an SF weapon you need to:
1. run SF on a ranked server at least once using the account you want the unlock for
2. have the tier 1 unlock for that kit
3. have a free unlock slot; with vanilla BF2 you get one unlock slot per rank starting with Lance Corporal and with SF you get two (prior to the release of patch 1.2 you only got the extra slot from Sergeant on since there were no SF unlocks for AT and sniper)

The "2 free unlocks" shortly before patch 1.2 were only for people who had already used SF and were Sergeant or above since they were actually the Lance and Corporal unlocks.

ive sorted it out now. all that was neccessary was to run BF2 SF on a ranked server and the 2ndary kits became available. thanks for all help given.
