Been having this problem consistently on all servers but the TBF2 one. I get great pings (sub 20) but ill have lapses where I cant control anything, then it will go back to normal. I found the post about turning off wireless zero config, but it didnt seem to help. I have this problem at home as well as at school (2 different wired connections). These labses are pretty numerous so its not very playable. Is this server side or is it on my end? Like I said, I dont think its any problem with my connection, as I get fine ping and can play just fine on the TBF2 server. Any help would be awesome, especially since our server is empty

Re: Low Ping/High Loss Problem
My friend has a similar problem. He ends up having a connection problem like once or twice in a 20 minute time frame and the 3rd time, he ends up getting disconnects. I'm not sure that this is exactly happening to you, but he ran a trace route on his ISP and it seems that he is losing packets somewhere. His ping is always like 20-40 and he has a great rig to play BF2 on.
This guy lives in Chicago so he ended up finding out tha Comcast has diverted all of the bandwidth to another pipe while they replace the one it was initially on. I guess they are getting ready for fiber optic broadband early next year or something. Concast told him they would have this issue fixed in the 1st week in April. Long story short, I submitted a question to Dice about packet loss requirements and I got a goose egg for an answer. Figures.

Re: Low Ping/High Loss Problem
Is it worse in the afternoon?
Have you tried playing during a different time of day, can you?
Have you tried recording your games?
I did all of these things and found some strange bits of info out. First most businesses do thier daily up loads to the home office in the afternoon. Then most school kids use thier computers on the inter net after school. All communications are affected by the suns rays most in the afternoon.
Second, I also noticed that when I get close to certin players in game my computer almost stops due to lag. I was able a couple of weeks ago to actually pin it down to one player. Its not just one player and on some servers during some rounds there are a lot of them that cause this. I usually just find another server, but I suspect its some kind of side effect caused by a poorly coded cheat.
The skinny is this just try and analize whats goin on and see what things are common to the instances of lag. You might even want to make a list of the laggy servers and a list of non laggy ones. You should be able to come up with at least 4 or 5 that are pretty lag free all the time. Good Luck. . . . .RedComment
