Hopefully EA's computers get destroyed by an EMP and patch 1.3 never sees the light of day. I was excited about this patch until they confirmed that they are removing teamplay options (squad switching while dead), now I wish I could keep our ranked server on 1.22.

The fact is he is more likely to know when it comes out than any of the rest of us. Although, having seen the way some of you react when he teases you with a comment like "very, very soon", if I were him I wouldn't post at all.

First, I would say it to his face given the opportunity.

Second, I am not arguing about the likelihood of his knowing the release date. I am arguing that his track-record is very poor when it comes to "teasing" the community.

Third, I honestly believe he does a disservice to the community here by "teasing" them. You know as well as I do how everyone around here gets so worked up about the next patch coming out, yet he continues to bait them and they take it hook, line, and sinker. If I were a member of EA/DICE and saw his comments I would tell him to cease and desist.

patch is coming soon, but not long after its released, some noobs are complaining about humwee`s drops at their sorry heads ,and 1.33 patch comes with anti noob airbags

look i think the patch will be a vital part of the game as the final patch ( most likely) I mean I think that if you create a squad you should have a certain rank to make it. And If you wine about not being able to squad hop then your a noob. Idc who you are because squad hopping is gay. just because your team sucks and you are losing all your flags and theres the one guy left and hes a squad leader dosent mean you should just be able to go to him to try to win. Just be better at the game! THATS FINAL AND IF ANY1 COMPLAINS ABOUT THIS ENTIRE PATCH I WILL. well idk what ill do. srry bout the caps lock.but ya.... so next tues??

Dropping on n00b heads is the least of the worries. How about dropping them on top of helicopters and planes to destroy them and keep them grounded.

This may be a definitive patch, but don't worry I'm sure there will be more patches as long as this game is as popular as it currently is.

I don't think the n00b (proper definition) community are the ones who are complaining about squad hopping. It is actually the competitive gaming community that is up in arms - people who really know how to play the game well. There are very potent strategies that revolve around the effective use squad hopping in a match. Squad hopping in a competive game also provides quick organization at the begining of a round which can be the difference between winning and losing a round (i.e. instead waiting for everyone to run to a vehicle at the begining of the round they delay spawn on the driver once he is in the vehicle and then change into a functional combat squad).

The official reason for the change is that "this change will refocus the game play on team work and add more value to the roles of Squad Lead and Commander."

It wont work. It may make the experienced squad leader more weary, but it does nothing for the commander based on the detail released to far. If they really wanted to make this game squad-centric in pub servers they should make the entire scoring system based on teamwork points and squad based awards. Basically, squad members get combat points, while squad leaders get squad command points in a similar fashion to the commander. They would further gives bonus points for following squad leader/commander orders and awards for accomplishing said order to a certain level of competence.

Essentially making superficial chages to the gameplay like limiting squad hopping will not chage overall player psychology and squad play in the context of the current reward system. It also assumes a certain level of competence in those playing the game. As a result it will only frustrate players through the limitation of previously available tools that they have learned to use and rely on.

Enough from me. Bring on the patch! I have some n00bs to kill.

as far as i heard it will be released around the 15. May and it will be about 140MB in Size (i dont know if this will be the incremental or Full Patch but i think its the smaller one).

I got no official confirmation on this data so.......

yes but you dont see squad hopping in a real war. And ea is trying to make this as realistic as possible with the game atmosphere

Hmmm... I don't even know. I don't even play Vanilla BF2 anymore, and unless they plan on allowing the Mods access to the "unlock" system and a way to remove the "prone-roll" I really don't care.
