Basic knife and pistol is going to be the death of me... :(

Well, I got commanding out of my system, and am ready to be a grunt again..

Was thinking towards my 1st Sergeant's rank (still have to get my master sgt rank, but still like to think ahead lol)..

I also want my basic infantry medal..

So I went on a "basic" blitz today..

Went and got my basic support, medic and engineer combat, basic ground and air defence..

The hardest was the basic aviator and helicopter badges..

You sit around forever, jostling for the bloody planes/helicopters..

It's always a Gosh darn Mexican standoff (there's usually 3 of them)..

One of them has got his knife out and is jabbing it at you menacingly..

The other is shooting at your feet..

"Dance mother*ucker, DANCE!", I hear Mr. Sheen shout in my head....

The plane/helicopter appears... there's a mad dash... and knifeboy TK's you for the plane/helicopter..

When you DO get the drop on them, and all they can do is fire at your exhaust ports impotently, a hostile swoops in and strafes you...

When you finally get in one, against all odds, AND get off the tarmac, (praise Jesus!), you fly in circles (or that's what I did.. lol), for 2 minutes till some TopGun with his $300 joystick takes you out, and the viscious, inane ritual repeats itself..

And JUST when you're getting close to the 10 minute mark, the %$#$## map changes!!!!!!!!!

AAAARGHHHHHH!!!!!!

Must have taken me 3 hours to get the basic aviator and helicopter..

AND I don't even NEED them for the 1st srgt. rank OR the basic infantry medal!!!

Wish I'd checked the requirements more carefully..

Could have saved myself the migraine and the caustic hatred for TK'ers, base rapers, and pretty much humanity in general which has yet to subside 5 hours later..

Man, I need a hug...

If only my wife would understand, instead of shaking her head in discust..

She'll be no help..

If only you guys, my BF2 bretheren, could do just that through the computer..

(though, I'm sure you're all mentally backing away slowly at this point, and wouldn't oblige me if you COULD.. LOL)..

Have to let it go.. Breathe..

Anyways, basic pistol, and basic knife are going to be the HARDER, though..

I can feel it..

God, I wish pistol and knife only servers weren't illegal...

If anybody is till reading at this point, and has any tips how I can make this happen sans migraine and ulcer, please, PLEASE share!!

I always play w/ my pistol out while being a sniper. It's never good to turn a corner and be face to face w/ a PKM and your single shot M95 out. I love killing w/ the pistol so that badge came easy for me. Knifing took some practice. Simply put, dive at their feet and stab. If you miss, get back up and do it again. Just have to get the timing down. But once you get these basic badges, just have to get 50 knife and 50 pistol and then do it again. For me, by the time I got my basic in both, I already had 50 in each category so I just had to duplicate my actions for basic. Practice Practice Practice. That's the only advice I can give.

One thing in your post that ****es me off. Is the word PKM and M95. Don't use unlocks man they take no skill, in compition unlocks arent used. Plus if you want basic sniper go MEC SVD owns. Also easiest place to get badges is 9 Rounds Only Karkand v1.22 server. Alot of nubbs there to rape.. Good luck

I think I've just read a post written by myself. Basic Knife and Pistol are a pig and I still don't have them either. I tried it the other day, trust me, any one on one where you have a pistol and they have some kind of machine gun or shotgun, you're dead, you might as well have your c*ck in your hand for all the good it does. I got another 10000 points to go to get them but i'm not looking forward to it. For all the talk about snipers being everywhere, when I start snooping around looking for some to stick with my knife, they're never around. You should be able to throw the knife at least.

Another thing that's driving me crazy:

What's with the guys that dive around a corner with that stupid flipper dive, aren't even shooting in your direction yet, and yet kill you in a milisecond??

Gotta be some kind of cheat..

I've shot guys 5 times point blank with a DOC12 and have not gotten a kill, and these guys DO? With an MP5????

The basic jet and helicopter badges are a lot easier to get on a smaller server, like 16 or even 32 player Wake, a lot of times you can be doing something else and find a jet that no one is waiting for and hop in it. Especially the F-35's, and sometimes even the attack choppers. Axxium has a pretty good 32 man Wake sever.

Well 1st of all, I'm not in any competition. Secondly, I don't even notice what gun I choose when I'm sniper b/c I never use the rifle anyways. All pistol kills except if I see some one in the distance that has their back turned. Then I'll pull out the rifle.
Don't get so upset, it's only a game bud.

Good question. Some think the unlocks lack skill to use. I can agree w/ that statement using the G36E. That thing is lethal. Two bursts and your down. But at the same time, they paid $20 to get that so more power to them. I don't have tier 2 unlocks and I'm doin just fine.

No, no, they are equivelant ranks. You're either one, or you're the other. You can't get one and then the other. For the umpteenth time.

And for knife/pistol tips....search.

Short version: for pistols, just keep a pistol out and use it. VERY easy badge to get. For knife: just keep the knife out and use it. VERY easy badge to get.

The pistol badges and the knife badges are hard to get (because no one likes to get that close to the enemy) but worth the effort. I would recomend stakeing out a flag, the alley flag on Sharqi is the one I used. Just get on the building roof and jump on the guy laying on the ground capping the flag. You are going to die a lot getting these badges but you can get them in this fashion. The key is to get as close as you can undetected. Sometimes I even will turn a flag white and go hide and wait for the enemy to come to retake it. When he settles in and starts acting like all is safe I jump on him and get the kill. I also would recomend getting on servers that arent full, ie. servers running a 64 player map with about half that many players present.
For the Air craft/vehicle time I would recomend 64 player Fushee pass or dragon valley, most of the people on these maps are there to get badges and flying for even a noob pilot isnt hard. Its also pretty easy to find empty Air craft sitting around on these maps. I would just fly in a figure eight pattern and the other guys will figure you out and usually not give you any unnecessary grief. I would much rather share the air with an enemy noob trying for his 10 minutes, or what ever, than to have and ACE pilot on my rear the whole round and I think everyone else would too.
The basic requirements for the Armor badges can be gotten on the maps not very many people like. Like the stalemate map. As for the number of kills that you need good luck there. About the only help I can give you is always be an Engineer and follow another piece of armor around, he will protect you and you should protect and repair him as much as you can.
