    Microphone in game?

I got the game 2 days ago.. but only played in a squad for about 5 hours. Since then.. i heavnt heard a single person talking. i tried to talk and no-one responded yet i see the mic icon highlighted when i push my "to talk" key. I went to do an in-game mic test but it wouldnt let me. ( ie i could only choose boost mic gain, or out/in volumes )

When i installed the game.. the mic test worked.. so i "think" its working.

Is it just that i played on a server that doesnt allow microphones? Does microphones actually work in game? I come from playing CS and WoW.. so microphones were a must... but seeing as im not gonna be giving out vent info to all these players i squad with.. i wanted to know if there was a current bug or something thats blocking people from hearing me or me hearing them.

Im very big on playing so i want to enjoy the use of the microphone specially when im picking people up in the transport chopper or when im in an attack chopper or whatever and see an enemy and cant "Q" target him to tell the guy where he is.

Any opinions / thoughts on how i can fix this?

Yes it's possible to use mics, however, some servers may have it disabled when you join a server there should be a bunch of little icons next to the server name that display the server's policies.

    In-game:
I believe a yellow mic is squadleader to commander. Key "V"

And green is squad members to other squad members. Key "B"

And lastly not everyone has a mic. I have one, but, never use it.

A lot of poeple speak to one another through Ventrilo or teamspeak. Many servers have then set up for their clan members use, while others are public.

Huh? You mean there is 2 keys you can push to talk to people?

I was squad leader at the time.. and when i pushed the key.. the icon in the top right corner was yellow... meaning i was only talking to the commander. This would make alot of sense.

Thing is..the game says bind keys... "to talk". Not like.. "to talk to squad"

So.. do i need to bind 2 seperate keys? Or is it a setting i gotta select in the squad screen to select who im talking too ie. commander or squad.

Cause there is an icon you can click beside your name... maybe i gotta click something ON or something?

Thanks for the opnion though.. ill defienetly take a look at the icons when i join a server.

Yeah, the default keys for voice is B for squad and V for commander talk if you're squad leader. But I have my squad button bound to the mousewheel button. I use voice all the time if I can. Sometimes your squad uses it too and you have a great squad, sometimes, they dont' have one nor respond.

            Re: Microphone in game?

all our clan uses Vent to talk with each other
and we ALL also use in game VOIP to speak with non-clan members
yes to affirm what is said above
            there are TWO buttons
one for squad chat - you do not go "into" squad screen to select WHICH squad you talk to 0 you only talk TO and can only hear the squad you are IN

and the only time the other button works is when you are Commander or squad leader - as that button connects the 2 players

            never used to use VOIP|
            now - EVERY GAME

If you are looking for coordinated teamplay and VOIP/squad communication try the TacticalGamer Server when its populated. Its unranked, so gaming is not about your personal stats and you are forced to join a squad to play.
