    Questions...

So far, ive posted twice in here and the responses have been fantastic.

    I have 3 questions...

    1) When im in a squad, how do i promote someone else in my squad to become the leader? I went to the squad screen where you see the names of all your squad mates, but couldnt do anything else.

why: Last night i was in a 5 man squad. I was the gunner on an attack chopper with a really awesome pilot. We had been flying together for like 3 maps. Anytime we ran to a chopper and i got in first, someone would spawn off me due to me being the leader of the squad and take his place as the pilot. Not only did this annoy me, it annoyed him, and i couldnt get rid of the leadership so as people wouldnt spawn in the chopper whenever there was a spot open.

    2) Is there such a thing as a friends list in the game? Im new ( only 3 days with game ) but i got the name of that pilot i was playing with. Id really like to know if hes online but i couldnt find anything in game or at the main menu ( ie. community, BFHQ ) that shows a friends list. Is there one and i just cant see it?

    3) When your a squad leader, can you give any orders other then the ones from your secondary voice com? I pushed T and noticed the commands like defend, attack, follow me etc.. but i wanted to open the map up and set up a meet point or something.. but i couldnt figure out how to do it. I only saw custom squad, manage squad, and thats it. No set way points etc... Is anything possible or can you only do it with the secondary voice com?

I appreciate all the advice and help this community has been giving me recently. Really nice to see compared to WoW or CS communites.

    Thanks again.

    Re: Questions...

1)couldnt you just get your own squad and lock it with JUST the 2 of you in it??

    2) You can check on various stat sites and search the guys/gals name and it should tell ya where(which server) they are playing at that time

    3) Not 100% but cant you do it from the caps lock map??

      Re: Questions...

leaving and rejoining the squad will change leaders to the next person in line below you, thats one quick way to ditch leadership.

There isnt a friends list per-se but if you got a program like xFire you can track your other buddies who have xfire and see what server or game they are in.

A "Rally Here" command would be nice, and to be honest I dont know if it exists or not.... if it doesnt, its a great idea.

"Defend this position" is a good way to set a meeting point and we use that sometimes.

I noticed i can lock the squad... but when we joined the game, players were joining our squad left and right but i didnt invite anyone. Maybe it was the commander??? i dont know..

Sometimes i like being in a squad. If you die and you see your squad leader in a nice spot.. i like to spawn at him. But... for piloting or co-piloting.. ill definetly keep the lock 2 members in mind.

        Thanks.

I would like the idea of a rally here too, however mny idea is that all dead Squad-mates spawn on you as soon as their 15 second or whatever death cycle is up, no questions asked

1.) you can leave the squad and it will make someone else the squad leader

2.) If you know his in game name you can use BF2S.com to see if he is online, it will say it under the picture of the soldier.

3.) Hit your Caps lock key then right click on the area you want your squad to attack defend etc:.

              Hope this helps!

                Re: Questions...

                3) you could use the 'Move Here' command too. Either by TAB, right click on the map and choose the Move Here commd or T+Mouse up to choose the Move Here command. Or, same methods but you can you Attack Here, Defend Here commands.

                1) Leader re-enterting the squad, I'm not sure if it's the person below him that gets the leader spot or someone else randomly, but yeh, thast's the only way to do it, you can't choose who becomes the leader.

                  Re: Questions...

Right on Warrior. The only thing I would add is when you leave squad and rejoin, it does make someone else squad leader, but not necessarily the person right below you. It works by rank to assign the squad leader.

Also, your caps lock screen lets you request UAV, Artillery, and Supplies from your commander. Use the V button to talk to the commander in VOIP and B to talk to your squad (it may be the other way around....)

A buddies list has long been in the "to do" list for bf2, and really should have been there to begin with, but it is best now to either use xfire or look them up on bf2s.

                    Re: Questions...

Just a quick note on leaving the squad to make someone else the squad leader... Won't this be disabled by the proposed "squad hopping fix" in the upcoming 1.3 patch?

I believe you can't leave or join squads when you're dead under the new patch, which will effectively negate that tactic for allowing you to change the squad leader and letting you respawn with the squad when the existing squad leader dies... I gather you'll still be able to pull the same trick when you're alive, but if you're trying to do ditch your squad leader title after dying so that you can respawn on the squad (with one of the alive members as the leader), you need to do this when you're dead...
